I don't have mids here to update the build but I think I will replace the SS power with combat jumping to put a LoTG in...get myself over the hump on recharge for hasten to be perma (assuming two stacks of siphon speed).

So far, this character has been the most fun I've had on any archetype and I get a giggle every time I FS my teammates and hear them going "holy $#!7, how am I doing so much damage".
The goals were a decent amount of ranged defense (since that's way easier to find than other kinds or trying to build up resistances it seems), enough recharge after double stacking siphon speed to get hasten close to perma and to get the status protections close to perma as well. Everything else has just been gravy.

I've loved it so far. I leave my toggles running, bubble the team, and spend most of my time just popping PA and Terror, and blasting! The bubbles will make you one of the most popular people on your server (at least it does on mine!)

This is the build I ended up with and am rolling around with now. It's a bit heavier on end usage than my previous build with group invis but it seems to manage alright.

Ok, so new revised build with new revised goals.
Goals:
- Soloability (primarily, not running out of end quickly (difficult with both superior invis and dispersion bubble) and being able to survive if something notices me)
- Certain powers must stay in the build: Superior Invis must stay in the build (there's really no real good reason other than I like it better than group invis :P), Recall Friend must stay in the build (I like providing transportation services).
- Perma-PA (or close)
Notes: I took the extra powers in leadership because I was running out of things to take. They made good spots for set bonuses but there may be something better to be done with those powers, perhaps?

Yikes! I'm glad everything worked out in the end! It's never a good feeling when this happens.

Psi+Energy could work with the ability to change colors now...I hadn't thought about how Power Boost affected force fields. That *is* handy! Perhaps I will put build 2 as my energy one and build 1 as my psi one and see how they compare for me.
I'll definitely add fighting back into the mix, if I go with Group Invis...the group I run with tend to group up and I know our brute would be annoyed at being made invisible (I've gotten complaints in the past from tanks a year ago when I last played this character with any regularity >.<).
Does it get annoying to manage having so many abilities that you try and keep clicked? (Hasten, Group Invis, PA?) -
So after playing around some more, I had a few more questions.
- Is there a compelling reason (beyond the end cost) for choosing group invis over superior invis?
- How important is it to take the fighting tree? With dispersion bubble and superior invis, the toggle endurance cost is already *really* high.

Hey Griff, thanks for the help! I've been messing around and using your suggestions in mids and I'm liking what I see so far! The recharge IO's were supposed to be endReduc IOs (as superior invis has a REALLY high end cost to run)...I must have misclicked when I put them in there.

Hi all, been away a while and still getting used to the IO system (wasn't able to play as much right around the time IOs came out and only recently got back into the game). My controller is nearing 50 and I was messing around in Mid's, trying to figure out how the heck to slot him and came up with the stuff below. If I'm missing something obvious or need to think about certain things more, do let me know!
The main goals for me with him are:
- Survivability
- Controls
- Medium damage
- Fun! (knocking low level trolls off the cliffs in the holows at 3 million mph is hillarious, as an example)
One question I had: Is perma-PA possible these days? (or close?) I see some people mention it but I'm not sure how to go about trying for it. Is my slotting completely messed up? Should I be focusing on something else as an Ill/FF Controller?

Get a grip. The mission placement should be a challenge. Do you just want every contact to hand you a door mission, that happens to be a block away, that happens to have REALLY easy foes to kill, which gives you enough exp to get 10 levels per mission?
People will complain about the stupidest things. Sure, I've had alts that have died in the Hollows... but my stupidity is to blame. I decide to shortcut through the red zone, and get my [censored] handed to me... lesson learned.
Any time I've had a difficult-to-reach mission, I've merely taken my time, and taken safe routes... and I've never had a problem that way.

Actually the original theory behind the mission placements (as said by Statesman during an interview at one of the con's I beleive) was that it was intended for heros to street hunt on their way to and from missions. The placement of many missions especially at the lower levels are placed in areas that are nothing but purple cons to the hero preventing this form happening.

Not only that, but level 20+ (all the way to 50) continually get doors in KR, PP, Steel, and Skyway. What in the world is a level 44 player going to hunt in Kings Row on the way to the door?
