AE Power Combos

That was why I suggested multiplying the XP required dramatically, not 2x, but something like 100x per extra power selected...you might farm 5x faster...but it'll still take 20x longer.

It'd help AE farmers, but it would make us truly able to build ANY character we can imagine (Amazo?).

Let's not forget that when someone says "softcap" they don't generally mean "softcap to all types/positions". I have seen many people calling themselves "soft-capped" when, in fact, they are really only "soft-capped to smash/lethal". It may seem a minor point, but against some enemies your "soft-cap" can disappear darn fast.

BIOSPARK :: DARKTHORN :: SKYGUARD :: WILDMAGE
HEATSINK :: FASTHAND :: POWERCELL :: RUNESTAFF

A Forcefield Defender on SOs with both shields, Dispersion Bubble and Maneuvers each 3-slotted for defense will soft-cap all their teammates.

An SR Scrapper or Brute with all their toggles, all their passives, Combat Jumping, Weave and Maneuvers, all 3-slotted for defense, will be soft-capped to all positions.

So, yeah. The soft cap is ahieveable on only SOs, but only by specific powersets, and often by taking less-than-optimal powers.

Tanker SR would softcap on SOs with no pool powers needed to get there. I did the math once, and it ended up being 47% or so just on SOs and the passives and toggles within the set. That's if it follows the same template as Shield Defense. Tanker Shield Defense gives 15% base on it's defense toggles. If SR did the same, plus the passives (which would all be 10% each if it follows the same template as Invuln's passives compared to scrappers and brutes) it would end up softcapping at level 22. Since a tank would have all the necessary powers by level 18, all you'd need to do is hit level 22 and get SO's slotted and you'd be golden.

A scrapper can already softcap with power choices and SO slotting, a tanker wouldn't even need the extra powers.

But.....Tanker SR would SUCK, because all it has is defense. Shield Defense at least has +HP and some resistance. If you run into something that bypasses defense in some way, your tank will be hitting the dirt damn near instantly. (DE Quartz emanators, I'm looking at YOU)

That's why I prefer Resistance only over Defense only, there's always going to be someone who gets are lucky shot in, so being able to take that punch is a good thing.

Actually, if I were to add in a new AT that used an AE powerset combo that isn't already available, it would be Assault/Buff-debuff. It'd have MM debuff values with tanker damage modifiers. It wouldn't be the best at anything, but it would definitely be fun to play. It also wouldn't be over or underpowered, just neutral.

That actually doesn't sound too bad, melee/range/buff/debuff out of the box, as well as defenses from Power Pools. Give them the Blaster Epic Pools and they'll get a little bit of control.

Of course, this would require a discriminating eye when choosing powersets.

Actually what you're proposing is an AT that is a Corruptor but has weaker buffs/debuffs and some of their attacks are melee. It's weaker than a Corruptor unless the inherent is pretty cool.
