anyone tried a KM/Energy brute?

was going through my multitude of alts and the one scrapper, brute, tank attack set I have not yet tried is Kinetic Melee. and the one defense set I haven't played yet is Energy Aura.

so I was thinking of killing the proverbial two birds but doing so would mean it would have to be a brute and most of the comments I see about KM claim that the difference between the scrapper and brute version of the power set is greater for KM than any of the other sets out there.

for those of you that have tried both the scrapper version and the brute version, does the tier 9 power make that much difference between the two AT's? if it does, I may have to reconsider and build a scrapper KM and something else for my brute /EA.

thanks for any insight anyone can provide

that's actually what i'm trying now.. I posted about a possible build. Mine's lvl 5 and tearing through stuff, and is really fun to play so far.

I have always wanted to try EA if it wasnt for that energy cloak !
i so wish that set would get ported over to scrappers , an invisible brute goes against every thing i belive in

I'm enjoying my KM/EA Brute also - once I get him IO'd out, he should be something to see. As for Energy Cloak, I've never been much put off by stealth/invisibility for Brutes. If you're attacking as much as you should be, the stealth element will be suppressed most of the time and it's just a little extra Defense for you.

glad to hear that this combination is working out, I could see at a glance that this build would probably take a heavier investment than some to really get up and running.

have you tried KM on the scrapper side? I have several concept characters that are fun, even if they aren't the most powerful heroes or villains out there. but trying to get a feel for whether there is that much more of a difference between the scrapper and brute versions of the KM power set. I may very well decide to go with the brute regardless but looking for some feedback so I can make a more educated choice.

also, thank you to everyone providing feedback on their experiences. much appreciated

I know with enough inf, almost anything can be made good.....but I just deleted a 37 claws/ea. I had my smashing/lethal defense pretty high with a few sets, but with all those psy arachnos, I wad getting way too beat up for a brute, in my books anyways. So he is gone now.

Just my 2 cents on EA

I have played KM on a Scrapper, but not up to level 32 so I can't really say if the crit factor makes that big of a difference.

But really, Power Siphon is up for me most of the time on my brute, thanks to the heavy recharge in my build, and even without it I do a lot of damage. With Fury alone I float at around 130-150% damage enhancement; with Power Siphon saturated I get up to around 250% at peak. I generate so much damage and threat that I sometimes take aggro away from actively taunting tankers.

As to the Energy Cloak aspect, I took Taunt (also good for an IO set mule; taunt sets are pretty tasty), and just aggro at will whatever mobs I need to maintain Fury. It's not a problem at all, and the extra option to stealth is very handy.

I do have to be careful against Psi, but a single small purple inspir is usually enough to cover the hole while I clean out the Psi, and if all else fails there is always the t9 god mode which grants extra hitpoints. It's manageable. By comparison I've got experience with Invulnerability and it's Psi hole and while Dull Pain is hard to argue with as a counter, EA can still cope with its Psi hole in the mid to late game.

EA is a weaker set, but its not unplayable and it is fun (for me).
