If you mean the Explosive Strike: Chance for Smashing Damage proc, then it will only have a chance to proc in their attacks that do Knockback.
Which I think is just Crane Kick.

Yeah.
When it comes to pets, the enhancements only affect powers that can normally use them, for example knockback enhancements will only affect powers with knockback/down/up or if you use something like a Damage/Knockback enhancement from a knockback set, only attacks with knockback would get the damage enhancement.
Procs in pets tend not to be worth it unless alot of their attacks do a similar effect (Defence debuff procs in Mercs and slow procs in Demon Prince are the only ones I can think of at the moment)

So the Kinetic Combat chance for Knockdown would be worth it though?

There aren't really any procs worth slotting in Genin I'm afraid - I'd use them to carry the +def and/or +res specials (from Edict of the Master and Sovereign Right).
I slotted on IO that had a "chance for buildup" proc in my 1st tier ninjas. The proc would only go off when I summoned those ninjas.

Hiya, I looked around but couldn't find anyone addressing this question. Does the damage proc on the ninja level 1 summon really work? I have had it in my pets for a while but haven't noticed it going off. Maybe it only applied to one of their powers that they rarely use?.... I always thought it applied to all their powers even the ones without the knockback component.
