I've soloed pylons with mine, probably not in the same catagory as an AV but I'm sure I could kill a few if I wanted. It's partially going to depend on your AV (a lethal-resistant AV like Nightstar would be a pain, an AV with primarily psi attacks would maybe give you some breathing room due to widow's high psi resists, etc).
With stacked follow up, high recharge for a good attack chain and sufficient endurance regen it shouldn't be too bad (I'd consider taking shatter armor too for its 20% resist debuff). Aid self or high hp regen (25/sec or so) would prob help too for when they get some hits on you.
I'm sure others will offer better advice than I just gave, but yeah it should be completely doable.

Alot depends on your build. One little trick I'd suggest, especially with i19 bringing us more flexibility in our builds, is rearranging your defenses to not require the 6th slot Gaussian set bonus to stay softcapped, and then putting the Build Up Proc into Follow Up. It will fire much more often as long as you have a tight attack chain, and it always fires when you're attacking. It goes from having a negligible impact on your damage output, to have an actual impact on it, and can help push you over the top on what you need to bring down those AV hitpoints.

I did it with a Fort but not a NW. Took like 30 min, but I did it...lol

I was able to solo AVs with my Night Widow. However, due to all the poison DoT, some AVs tried to run from me. Most either didn't run much or were slowed significantly, which allowed me to DPS them pretty well, but some (like Hro'Dtohz) just ran constantly and jumped all over the terrain and made it impossible for me to DPS them down.
Having said that, I did defeat a handful of AVs on a NW build (not a Fort).
Title pretty much says it all. I have tried (no temps, minimal insps) and just not had enough sustained damage.
Am I doing something wrong?
