Strange tank behavior

I'm afraid I'm also one of those players who definitely plays my "role" on any team I've been invited to. When I'm playing my Tankers, I take gathering aggro very seriously. I want to be the first into every room and I Taunt constantly. I watch my fellow players' health bars like a hawk, and I jump around the room to gather any stragglers who may be getting away from me.

I get nervous when teammates run off on their own. Most of the time, they know what they're doing, but often they get a little carried away (as I do on my Scrappers many times!) and get into trouble. As a Tanker, I feel responsible for the team's health (except if they end up dying on an entirely different part of the map--I'm a Tanker, not a miracle worker).

It sounds like the Tanker in this case was just trying to keep the heat off the Brute by absorbing some of the excess mobs. As the crowd of enemies in a room decreases, the remaining mobs should tend to gravitate towards the Tank, as should the Tanker's teammates.

Please try my arcs:

Arc# 63910 "Why Do Bad Girls Like Bad Boys?" (length=Long, levels 40+)
Arc# 401500 "How to Be a Successful Professional Criminal" (length=Very Long, levels 1-10)

This way after the smoke clears, the room is nearly done and no one moved anywhere (except you), getting more use from stationary buffs and debuffs and keeping agro off the squishies.
I love this tactic. I used to have my tank buddy pick a spot and I'd rad pull a whole room to the team. By the time I come back with another mob the team is down to 2-3 baddies from the previous mob and the tank can easily grab aggro off me plus I'd immob when they gathered around the tank so they were not going anywhere anyway. It makes things go very fast! I really don't see this tactic used very often though and I dont know why. Perhaps folks have just gotten to used to the "Charge!!!!!" method.

Maybe the Tank isn't used to working with a Brute and didn't realize that they can function as a Tanker-lite.

Maybe the Tank was trying to herd for maximum AoE effect and you were contravening their basic and more team-centric tactic.

Maybe you aren't used to working with a Tank and didn't realize that when there is a real damage sponge on the team you are better served generating DPS.

If you really want to be an island unto yourself without team interference instead of running one mob over you should run two mobs over...or just solo.

Maybe your tactics work fine for some groups, but on that particular team the dynamic was different and you missed the opportunity to adapt.

It's difficult to say, but it doesn't sound like anything to lose sleep over.
