Stacked Procs ?

Crab Spider - Arm Lash
If I slot this with
ERADICATION - CHANCE FOR ENERGY DAMAGE
OBLITERATION - CHANCE FOR SMASHING DAMAGE
LADY GREY - CHANCE FOR NEGATIVE ENERGY DAMAGE
SCIROCCO'S DEVRISH - CHANCE FOR LETHAL DAMAGE

Will these all have a chance to fire off when the power is used, and if so - let say that 2 of them rolled a 'hit' , would damage from both 'hits' apply, or only the strongest or what. Im not real sure I understand how this scenario would work.

Advice?

Their chances to hit are independent, so they can theoretically all go off at the same time

BUT

Chance of any one going off: 20%
Chance of any two going off: 4%
Chance of any 3 going off: 0.8%
Chance of all 4 going off: 0.16%

Assuming the power hits each proc will have a chance to fire and if multiple procs fire then they will each deal damage. Since it's an AoE each target will be checked independently.

Since each proc has a 20% chance of dealing 71.75 damage it's not really worth slotting them in place of damage enhancements. Each proc adds an average of 14.35 whereas a damage SO adds a garunteed 31.2 damage. So it's not worth considering adding procs until you've got 3 damage SOs (or equivilent) and sufficient accuracy. Even then recharge or endurance enhancements might be a better option.

Would it make more since to stack procs like this in a power whose base damage was much smaller? Something atill with an area, like Caltrops perhaps is what I'm thinking?

See my earlier post. It's hard to imagine you could have (in this instance) 3 slots that wouldn't be better spent somewhere else.

OK, looking at the previous post you mentioned.... I think you statistics-fu is off. If each proc has a 20% chance of going off, and you have 3 or 4 as the OP indicated, then your chance of at least 1 going off is going to be greater than 20%. I mean, if you rolled 5 dice at once, your odds of seeing at least 1 six is better than 1 in 6. Unless the game has coding to prevent the normal statistical odds from working. Does it? I've not heard of that before.

Wow, I didn't even look at the actual numbers before. Yeah, they're way off. If you have 4 procs each with a 20% chance to fire, the chance of one or more firing is 74.4%. Please note, I'm not saying that's the chance of EXACTLY one firing. It's the chance of ONE OR MORE.

I'm too lazy to calculate the odds of each number firing.

Well with continuous powers such as Caltrops and most toggles the proc only checks once every 10 seconds which limits the effectiveness. Personally I tend to find that there are better places in my build for those slots but I have met people who stack procs in Caltrops (or similar powers) and swear by it so it really comes down to what works for you.

With 4 20% chances, you have a 4*(.2*.8^3), or 40.96% chance of exactly one proc firing.
