Proc IO's and powertrays

I have a lockdown chance for hold IO on total domination on a dominator and a fortunata. I think that IO is really good when it goes off, it got me thinking, why not make some sort of powertray system that will let us know when the IO is active. For example, take the Dual Blade powerset, the powertray icons are highlighted for its combo system, why not do the same for proc io's? I think it would be awesome to know exactly when the proc is active on a power. For total domination with a Lockdown chance for hold, knowing when that IO is active would be a great help. The same can go for Devastation on a ranged power and other Proc IO's. What do you all think?

devastations proc already does this kind of. it has the ball o'lectricity around the enemy when it goes off. and total domination is already a hold. i never could see the reason for putting a hold proc in a hold power. nor sure if it has a visual effect if it goes off, but imho it is kind of redundant in a hold power.

The Lockdown proc seems to do the same thing. I have Lockdown: Chance for +2 in Tesla Cage on my Elec/Elec Blaster. When it triggers, I see two cages around the enemy -- one for Tesla Cage, which on my Blaster may be colored yellow, white, blue, or red depending on the costume, and then a second Tesla Cage which uses the default color scheme.

Sharker, I am sorry to say this but you are absolutely wrong about the Lockdown proc, it's wonderful for holding EBs.

ah... ok then. so it adds to the hold rather then canceling out. effectively raising the mag of the hold. i can see using it then. i never have though. i might look into it now.

It's still a waste of a slot on a Dominator.

Holding EBs? True EBs aren't much harder than a regular boss, so the proc is rarely the difference maker. Downgraded AVs still have Purple Triangles of Doom, just like their AV counterparts, thus holding them has it's own issues, and the proc is rarely the difference maker there either.

My guess is, the proc was designed either for Controllers to give them an occasional extra shot at what amounts to Overpower, and for Non Control ATs.

Fair point. It's even sorta overkill on my Blaster since he has no fewer than 3 holds, but I was mainly shooting for Lockdown's 6-slot set bonus anyway.

Shooting for the 6 slot bonus is a perfectly acceptable goal. If you're shooting for as much control as possible on a non standard control set, it's all good too. I was just pointing out that the relative "need" for the proc to do its job isn't really a key issue when talking about true Control ATs.

As for the OP's suggestion, I'd say that we're not dealing with procs that require further action here (like most of the ones in WoW do) It's not like knowing the proc goes off means you need to fire off another power. In powersets where chained effects require player intervention (Dual Blades) we get a UI warning.

With regards to your slotting choices for your Dom and your Fortunata, I'd recommend looking into slotting 4 pieces of Basilisk's Gaze, then the triple aspect and the quad aspect from Lockdown in your Holds. The 15% added global recharge will be a much more reliable tool in stacking Hold Magnitude than the Lockdown Proc is.
