Buying a laptop

Posted

Hey Hey
I am looking to buy a gaming laptop. Almost all my experience lies in desktops however. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I can't spend more than 1600 or so.
I am hoping to find something that can at least run CoH at good settings and be gaming capable for other things as well.
Is it impossible at that price?

Well I am looking to get a decent gaming laptop. I'd like it to be able to handle CoH with many ultra settings on.
I also wouldn't mind it being able to handle a few other games I am playing like New Vegas.

Well in that case ... well there are these four. All are Intel quad cores with the fastest laptop GPUs from either ATI or nVidia, 7200RPM drives and at least 4GB of memory.

I do know that a few people here have the Asus one.

Hmm. Thanks. I think I read some reviews on that Asus one. I hear it has a lot of good value for the price. Basically the best you can get for that price range.

Let me clarify, with the fastest laptop GPUs available with your price restrictions for sale at NewEgg.

Another option (in the somewhere-close-to-$1000 USD) would be a
Force 1656-ID5 which is basically the bare-bones/customizable version
of a MSI GX640. Or look at a MSI GX660 or E7405.

I do like my Asus G73JH, but its near the top of OPs price range.

I've tried the Intel quad-core vs the AMD quad-core, and on a laptop I've found the AMD had the edge in performance, at a sacrifice of battery life. I'm running a tri-core atm, and my performance matches my friends intel quad-core, despite me sacrificing 400Mhz clock speed.
