It has been a while, and someone will probably jump in with a better answer, but I think you go back by the entrance and choose 'place item', or 'personal item' rather than the the 'edit base' option.

Yes, it will be under "Personal Items." You can place it temporarily, and once placed, move it around using the standard "Edit Base" interface.
For future reference, this is the case with all base crafted items, as well as your veteran rewards (posters, weapons, fliers).

This may sound like a rather noobish question: Where did my Telepad go?
I bought the salvage and I crafted the Basic Telepad, but I cannot find it under the Place Item menu. This is my first attempt at building a base that is more than a closet for salvage. What am I missing?
