What my fire (ch)imps ARE good at...

At least in my fire/ trolling experience, it has become abundantly clear that first and foremost, my fire imps main ability is to detect which one of the mobs has NOT been stunned by Flashfire, and immediately proceed to attack them and usually die.

Either they are dumb and/or they just see me as a lousy employer, and want to get back to the breakroom ASAP. I try to feed them, buff them, and even slot them with fun things specifically for them, but alas, I'm left to wait till Summon Imps is recharged to have more than zero around to do stuff.

So, quick suggestion, based on my complete lack of knowledge about the forthcoming Incarnate System. It would be wonderful it they would create a pet IO, not just for fire imps, that gave the power "Sense of Self Preservation". This would allow them to tap into an AI that has an inkling of desired behavior. If you have multiple pets, it would allow them to group think and gang up on a single mob instead of spreading out all over the place. Or it would keep them from soloing the map. Or if your pet was ranged, it would stay out of melee *gasp*. It would be magical, wouldn't it?

Or just let me have three Singys please

They are also good at targeting rezzing mobs before I can. Usually, the rezzer dies before he's done with his overly dramatic rezzing animation. I like that about my imps.

Never argue with stupid people. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Oh yes, this is definitely one of my most favorite things about pets. It's especially rewarding on a crab spider with all pets out.

I believe mobs (and therefore pets since the AI is shared) are in fact set to prefer active targets, so the pets will indeed pick on the ones Flashfire missed. It's nice when you get mezzed and the enemy turns on one of your teammates instead of kicking you while you're down, but annoying when your pets do the same and get squashed because they aggroed something that could fight back.

Cascade, level 50 Blaster (NRG/NRG since before it was cool)
Mechmeister, level 50 Bots / Traps MM
FAR too many non-50 alts to name

Just to offer a different view here:

Yes it is annoying when a pet dies, however when they go for the unmezzed mob they are quite possibly pulling aggro off of me, and I'd rather the enemies be shooting at my pet then me. Also, (while this one doesnt apply to the imps) the pets that have controls gravitating towards unmezzed target is a nice way to help spread the lockdown.

I think the reason they attack unstunned enemies is because they work like enemies do. The pet aggros on whoever attacked them. I'm not sure of that but it seems plausible.

Maybe what we need is this:

Marked for Death Ranged, Minor DoT(Toxic), Attract Foes
Ghouls operate in pacts and it is the Painted One's duty to "mark" their prey. Being marked will cause some minor Toxic damage and cause nearby enemies to be more likely to attack you.
