Which Patron/Epic Pool did you take?

I am in the middle of working out a new build for my MA/SR scrapper. Aside from soft capping his melee/range/AoE defenses to 45% I am looking at taking a new Patron Power or Epic Power. As of now I have the weapons mastery which is more thematically inclined then most others consider this character is Science based and I don’t see him spewing out fire or electric attacks.

Now since the incarnate system is coming out in the next issue and the fitness pool will be inherited, I was thinking of creating a new story in which he is endowed with godly type powers. In other words, I wanted to know what Patron/Epic pool you took on your character and why???

Yup I had body at one point then went with weapon for the shrunkin. I am thinking of taking the MU set now for an incarnate type power. Have you tryed that on a scrapper yet?

I decided to go with the MU Patron for the AoE along with dragon tail for high mob damage. I had a free slot so I took provoke to help hold agro since I do a lot of teaming and task force runs in which I tank. I’m soft capped at 45% melee/range/aoe and have 20% resistance to fire/cold/smashing/lethal and 10% resistance to negative/energy damage. I also have 80% inherited resistance to slow and recharge and over 100% resistance while in PvP mode.

I’m going to respect into this build tonight, the only IO I don’t have at the moment is the +3 Gladiators Armor which I need 20 more A-Merits to obtain. On a side note I use to have aid self but found that I never used it.

Mu would probably be a good choice, with a decent AoE power in Ball Lightning, and a ranged ST attack in Mu Lightning or Zapp if you're into snipes. Mace could also be worked as a theme-based, with using a mace as a gadget.

My only high level Scrapper currently runs Body for Conserve Power, but will be swapping to either Fire or Mu when I19 hits. It mainly hinges on the difference in damage between Fire Ball and Ball Lightning. Unfortunately, Red Tomax doesn't have Scrapper Mu Mastery yet for comparison.

From my understandings is that you can have both patron and epic power pools...

Nope. You can only pick one.

I would look at leviathan mastery or mu mastery.

I wish you could pick both. That would scream ultimate win.

What are you cereal? Well then I don't really have any reason to take any Patron pools on any of my scrappers.

For one build, you can only have one EPP or PPP, so you take either body, or leviathan or Mu. etc. This requires that you have the patron badge in order to take PPPs. You can also have a different power pool in your second build.

Lame, and here I was thinking I could have my spines/dark with body and soul mastery, well that definitely puts a damper on things.

Body and Soul Mastery sounds like a Wincarnate power pool. Expect it in Issue 20!

Seriously. Body mastery is the perfect pool to replace fitness with having two powers that are good without needing extra slots.

I always take Body Mastery...whether it's for my DM/SR or my DM/Regen.

Alright, I took a closer look at the build (since you reminded me in game :P). I see an issue with the lack of an attack chain. With only Thunder Kick, Dragon's Tail, and Eagle's Claw...is Mu Lightning gonna be a filler? If so, it would seem to be a chain that is lacking. Also, Thunder Kick is under-slotted and you've got some interesting slotting in other powers for bonuses that really aren't needed.

I would find something to drop (this is a matter of preference, so its up to you) and add either CAK, Crane Kick, or Cobra Strike. You also might want to consider swapping Storm Kick for Thunder Kick, as SK is much better.

You also might want to consider tossing a Kismet unique in somewhere, as it helps a ton, especially when exemp'd for TFs and with lower accuracy attacks while you are debuffed.

I am taking the soul mastery patron pool when i19 hits. I am dropping the body mastery pool and putting in a miracle recovery and a hecatomb set to make up for the 1 slotted phys perfection. Then im going to take the snipe, shadowmeld and the pet from the soul mastery and am going to pick up the fighting pool for tough. I cant believe i didnt put a miracle recovery in my build until now, just found out yesterday, i always put it miracle recovery in all of my character builds.

I have Weapons Mastery because I enjoy Shurikens, Caltrops and my Targetting Drone. Webnade is just extra I guess to slow enemies.

But after my Respec I only kept shuriken and Caltrops. I chose shuriken because of its high recharge and the ability to put a Hold proc into it. Also useful for me to pull. Caltrops also is great mitigation because it causes NPC AI to run away from the caltrops and very handy where you find yourself overwhelmed.

In PVP I find Caltrops beneficial for me against Stalkers whom are usually unable to perform their Assassin's Strike because my Caltrops can expose/interrupt them. I put in a Recharge Slow and Energy Dmg proc. With a high enough recharge you can lay several of these down.

My MA/SR originally had Weapons Mastery for concept way back when; at some point I updated the build with Body Mastery for recovery. With the alpha slot and inherent fitness I'll be looking for a way to get back to Weapons Mastery because the toon is less fun to play without the caltrops and exploding shuriken. I highly recommend a pool that has a targeted AoE to supplement Martial Arts, and caltrops is a great mitigation tool.
