Stone Armor

Okay, so I've failed 6 times to get a stone tanker past level 20 due to the complete boringness of it. I'm going to try a brute this time even though it takes longer to get to granite...

I was thinking dual blades... what are your suggestions?

Sidenote: I don't really care about optimization. I want something that's fast pace and fun to drown out the epic boringness of stone.

Sidenote2: I've seen people talking about negating the slowing effects of rooted an granite armor, how exactly do you go about doing this?

Just posted a thread about it here

he is fun, but you'll be waiting till 47 if you want allll that defense if you dont mind taking a hit, slot eariler with lower level IO's you'll still get the same set bonuses and you'll be able to run about just fine

Combat Kangaroos, Justice Server. First 50's
Jirra Roo Plant/Storm/Stone/Musculature Controller
Combat Kangaroo Rifle/Energy/Mace/Spiritual Blaster
Kung Fu Kangaroo Martial Arts/Reflexes/Body/Spiritual Scrapper

If you want to stop Granite's recharge slow, you'll need lots of set bonuses.

Even then, though, knowing you'd go faster without it makes detoggling it tempting.

Actually i was mostly just talking about the slow movement speed :P What IOs would you guys be talking about to negate the speed debuff so I know what to look for?

The recharge hit is cool with me, I can deal with that.

I've never actually bothered with IOs till today but I guess I have to now *angry fist shake at the gods*

And a random silly question... I've been away for awhile... set bonuses are active 100% of the time yes? Not just when the power is?

For the most part, set bonuses are always active. I swear there was something about exemplaring below the level of the IO set or such, but I can't remember it in detail.

And as for the speed debuffs, I don't know if it's possible to get enough speed bonuses to counteract it. The only power you can have active during Granite or Rooted is Swift, which isn't very much on its own.

If you don't mind speed boost, make friends with a kin (or at least cross your fingers for them to show up on teams). They are the speed-boost crack to the granite-armor stoners.

If you drop below 5 levels of an IO it is removed from set bonuses. So if you have a full set slotted and the highest is 45 and you exemp to 38 you'll only get 5 of the bonuses.

You can slot for run speen set bonuses plus the Gift of the Ancients run speed IO x 5.

Not exactly true.

As I understand it, exemplaring rules mean that you lose access to any POWERS that are more than 5 levels above you (with the new auto-sidekick/exemplar rules) but you lose access to any Set Bonuses from IOs that are more than 3 levels above you.

To make matters more complicated, certain IOs function as Set Bonuses which are follow these rules too, but there are other IOs that are always active regardless of the level to which you exemplar. And Set bonuses from PVP IOs and Purple IOs currently also apply regardless of your level.

In general, there is a limit on five of any one particular set bonus. So never slot more than 5 of any one bonus (Example: 4x "1.88% HP" bonuses plus 2x "1.5%HP" bonus will all stack, but 6x "1.88% HP" bonuses won't as they'll cap out at 5). The sole exception to this rule that I'm aware of is the Luck of the Gambler "+7.5% recharge" IOs - these will stack up to 5 times on their own, but are treated as a seperate bonus to the other "+7.5% recharge" bonuses from other sets (as the bonus these IOs generate is named differently under the hood, even though it works out at the same level of buff strength).

Damn... you are of course right... so close, and yet so far.

Invul can be just as tough as a stone, and can even go over curbs

I've played both to 50 and you know what? You have a point. Invulnerability was tough AND could move around.

Now if only I could start leveling my WM/EA so that he could be strong AND pretty!
