Buying market slots
The idea of buying extra slots/storage/etc. usually comes up in the context of adding money sinks to the game. I always viewed the idea as more of a way to burn extra inf than to fill a desperate need. Although, I suppose that if you spend 700 mil for the salvage that would nicely fill the role of a money sink too.
my favorite suggestion has been slots you can 'rent', with an increasing fee for each additional slot.

If only I had mentioned the money sinks
And sadly, of that 700 mil, only a bit over 70 mil is actually destroyed. And 99% of that is destroyed on the end of the guy who's getting 100k for his salvage.
Also of note:
Can you imagine what this would do to the price of that salvage? I would assume that against prevailing logic, the price would actually go up on average, as people would continuously see the 100k sales and run off to list theirs for 125k or higher "to get moar moniez plx!" Despite you reselling the entire lot back for 1 inf.
This comes up every now and then. Mostly when someone throws out the idea for inf sinks.
Last night, it occurred to me that we can in fact buy market slots... after a fashion.
With 5 badges giving an additional transaction, you can essentially "buy" those slots, though not as easily as just buying a token or the like.
Here's the "cost" assuming you want your slots ASAP!
First, we pick a piece of salvage that has a lot for sale and a lot bidding. This way, when we list the ones we bought for 1 inf, they sell right away and allow us to move on to the next stack.
The badges are at 250, 1k, 3k, 5k, and 7k. So we've got some work to do to get our market slots!
If you bid 1 inf and patiently wait for those bids to fill over the next few months, you can break even on everything but the transaction fee. This will "cost" you 70k when its all said and done. But where's the fun in that?!!
So... we crank up the old bid machine and go to town buying anything and everything that we can! We bid 100k on everything! Then list them for 1 inf, guaranteeing us an immediate sale on anything with bids on it! Genius!
This method will end up "costing" you 700,070,000 inf if every order fills for exactly the 1 inf you list them for!
Brilliant!
So... essentially, you "can" purchase market slots. It will cost you somewhere between 70k and 700 mil or so. You can potentially run up the high end past 700 mil. But you can't do it for any less than 70k!
And yes, before the masses descend upon me, you can and *should* be making a profit on these slots, thereby creating the ability to actually get market slots for free, or even at a profit.
But that wasn't the point
