Spines/Thorns?

This may be a dumb question, but does changing the "type" of these powers cause redraw? Like if you have metal spikes for one power and thorns for another, would this cause redraw each time or would they just sort of change and stay out?

You cant have individual types of "Spikes" per power. You can colour them differently, but they only change colour on redraw. Oh, you owe me a tailor token :P

You can actually color them differently based on power?

I was thinking they were acting like other weapons. I believe the devs said at one point that you could either change the spines' color, or change the effects color. Maybe they decided to make the effects editable and copied the color over to the spines.

I want to look into this now. Can't you set the color when you select the spine type?

Yes, but as SinisterDirge said, the color change doesn't show up until you redraw them.

I have a friend whose concept is that the spines are colored glass, but only one color appears until she activates a non-spines power (like Energy Torrent or Laser Beam Eyes) and then redraws by using a different power.

The toxic poison effect you get when hitting your target is always yellowish green. That's what the devs meant by "either change the spines color or change the effects color, but not both."

Spines aren't a weapon set, which is why it took full power customization to allow us to change them. They work like other non-weapon power sets. Each power has its own GFX, instead of an animation that then adds the weapon. You can tell because for the thrown spine powers, the projectiles change to your chosen type as well.

Thanks.

I decided to make a /thorns dom while I was waiting for an answer (didn't think about it till I posted....). It seems that you do have to redraw every time you use a different thorn type. I used metal spikes on thorny darts, crystalline spines on skewer, and the color tintable on fling thorns. Each time I used a different power I was having to redraw before it would activate. Not very fun like that, so I guess I should stick to only one kind when I make my character for real.

I remember reading reason behind that was that you could have two-toned spines/thorns or one-toned spines/thorns and customizable one-toned poison. They went with the former instead of the latter.
