Mystery Origin?

Spiderman, Hulk,...Not Mutants
---other Stan lee chreations.... Iron Man Thor Daredevil Doctor Strange And Most of the Avengers |
In Stan Lees own words "I came up with the concept of Mutants because I was lazy and didn't want to create individual origin stories for everyone in the series, so one day I had a stroke of brilliance "What if they were all mutants" then I wouldn't have to explain anything... they are Mutants, that explains it all."

Same here. I also just plain don't like origins in general--they work for some of my characters, but others just get confusing. If a character is durable enough to survive fights because of a mutation, but uses naturally-trained kung fu to fight, are they Natural or Mutant? If they're super-strong due to a lab accident but amplify it with a suit of power armor, are they Science or Tech? I tend to just pick a best-fit origin, but they're loose enough that I mostly ignore them.
I wish there were some way to change our origin. I've had characters start as one origin and then as I develope them and choose new powers, decide that their powers grow in different way (or even completely alter the character which isn't uncommon in comic books). But once you choose an origin at character creation, you're locked into it unless you want to delete and start over.

Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.

If Wolverine learns to ride a bike that does not negate the fact that he is a freaky mutant with healing powers.

Likewise if Spiderman uses a Camera that does not negate that he was bitten by a radioactive spider.
Likewise, just because your guy learn Kung Fu does not negate the fact that at some point there genetic code was warped... they do not become a natural origin because they know Kung Fu... they just happen to be a Mutant who learned Kung Fu.
Your Origin describes just that, the catalyst for your characters powers that set them on the path to becoming a Superhero/villain.
I think this Hijack is worth the time, Going with what is being said about Mutants, Where would you Put an Elf, you know the classic Tolken ones, Made by the gods semi-immortal ect...
Mutant? Science? Natural? Magic?
I am going to assume that these 'Elves' are genetically related to modern humans for this question ie H. Sapien Álfar (Álfar old Norse word for elf)
