Veteran rewards

I believe I have more Vet rewards than I should have. I have a few idea's about why this is.

1. It was a benefit of prepurchasing Going Rogue.
2. They add all the time of both my accounts together.
3. It is a mistake.

I am kinda hoping it is not number 3 because my conscience is killing me.

Does anyone have any idea why my vet rewards and actual payed time should not match up?

You have an older account, based on your board reg date. Your account was probably hit by the benefits of the new Vet reward system fix, which was necessary after most of the old Vet reward system database was corrupted. You should be fine, but if you're worried, contact account support.

Actually it's probably #3 for the reasons DumpleBerry said. Many people reported getting "bumped up" that way. I doubt it would hurt you to keep more Vet awards than you're entitled to, but obviously it's up to you if you want to get Customer Service involved with it.

I had the bug hit me on my main.

Not realizing it, I used the vetspec I was granted in that fashion. Since I had already used it, when I legitimately earned that Veteran Reward, I did not get a second vetspec on that character (but the ones who did not get hit with the bug all received theirs)

So, you can use things that were granted by accident, and it won't grant you a second one. I doubt you'll get in trouble for using anything you get like that, I didn't, and after I got the legit reward it all evened itself out.

Yep, there was a bug of some form a while back that granted a lot of extra vet rewards. One of my buddies who'd been here from Beta but left for a year or so to play with trolls suddenly got an extra year of vet rewards.

As far as I know the official response is "Oops our mistake. Well, enjoy". You just got the lucky break there like my buddy did.

Upgraded Veteran Rewards System

Pretty sure it's more like #4 (Community Chest; Bank error in your favor, collect $200).

It's likely what DumpleBerry said, a while back there was a problem with the database that kept track of vet rewards, many were awarding late or just failing to award. For a few years, the only solution was to have support review your account and manually award them (which often turned into contacting them monthly if the support agent did not also manually set the date for future rewards).

With more and more accounts being affected by the increasingly corrupt database, it seems they took the "nuke it from orbit" approach and started with a new database. Which in most (if not all) cases only knew the registry date of the users.

So, look at the veteran rewards you have, and see if they would be correct based on when you created your CoH account (ignoring any time off). Probably wouldn't hurt to contact support though.
