DM/Invuln/Pyre
Dude, where's the build?
That said, yes, this is an example of what I think of as 'opposites attract' construction.
Dm/inv is possibly the most defensive scrapper build possible, with enough sets. Naturally, damage suffers, especially AOE.
However, adding in a damage heavy epic balances the thing out quite a bit. Fireball goes a loooong way toward mitigating the lack of AOE in dark melee.
I'd mainly wonder about your end usage. How does that fare?
I've thought of giving my DM/Inv the Pyre epic pool. It would even fit thematically! I just need to figure out a build that will satisfy all of the points I need maintained, such as soft-capped S/L/F/C/E/N, tons of Recharge, and all that jazz.
Share your build, if you're willing.

Hrm, well I messed around with a DM/Inv/Pyre I19 build and am able to get 70% S/L Resist, 45%~ Defense for S/L, and 40%~ Defense for F/C/E/N. Other stuff includes 50% Global Recharge, Haste in the build, and Endurance I can manage with occasional use of Dark Consumption.
I might go with this. It's a loss of some Defense for some AoE, which I think is acceptable. Maybe the Incarnate stuff might even help with the small loss of Defense.

Having Blaze Mastery did intrigue me and made me want to put something together.
It's a bit pricey, but it should have the chain while hasten is up. Endurance shouldn't be much of an issue and defenses at decent numbers.

MG could use a touch more recharge.
Maybe bring F/C up to 35 and bring S/L closer to cap
Bring hasten's down time shorter
Should be pretty solid after some more tinkering.
Holy smokes! The Endurance usage vs Recovery on that build is out of control!
I wonder if the way you have Dark Consumption set up allows for non-stop combat?

With AVs it will play a bigger part than if you were teaming. Even with AVs though you're going to have baddies around for SD fodder and the recharge of DC is good enough to be there when you need it and all you have to do is hit 1 or 2 and your bar is full. The damage is low so there won't be much worry about killing things off with it.
It is tight, I agree. But I've used a similar set up, in fact, I've had it tighter than that, and it can work very well.
As a whole, for me personally, I probably rely on DC more than others, and while I'm aware of the pros and cons of doing that, but the things I've done on my dm/inv please me well

Edit: After messing around with it more and doing something more for what I would use personally, it would look like this:

Hrm, is it my modified Mids', or did you not use all of the slots available to you? I've imported the build and you still have 4 left to use. That's a crime against Humanity! ... or at least, a crime against Scrappers.

THanks...I cant get it to work. I unzipped the files where it says to ...copy and replaced...gave permission...it says it did it but it still doesnt show the stamina in the bottom part. Just looks normal. I guess IM too tired to figure this one out right now.
Thanks though!!
Just another- DM/Invuln lovefest post.
I decided to roll this toon b/c I love my invuln/dm tank (my primary toon) so much. After, several months of play I hit 50 and just finished my IO slotting yesterday.
Wow! While it is not as tough as my tank it is tougher than most brutes and several tanks...plus does more damage. I ended up with 44% def s/l, 33% f/c/n/e adn 73% resist to s/l. With the self heal, and endurance recovery tools it is pretty much indestrutable. I can run content with this toon that my fully built elec/sd scrapper could never run. My only achilles is psionic but I have enough HP, regen and some ranged to deal with most circumstances just fine.
If you have not tried one...you should. Wait don't make one because I like being one of the few with it
