Does it bother you when...
Wouldn't bother me if someone hired the exact same artists I did - at least not at first. The more and more it happened though, yeah it would probably seem a tad odd eventually....
But to begin you first have to figure that maybe they're letting you do the "legwork" on finding out which artists are open for commissions and do good work... So they're taking the lazy way but *shrug*
After a while though you'd have to think they couldn't get the same artists every time... Some open and close for commissions almost randomly, some fill up so quick it would be hard to get them if you stayed awake 24/7/365 waiting for them to open...
And eventually, if it did keep happening, yeah, it would be creepy and a bit stalkerish.
As for the smack talk, I would scoff at that. 1) I just don't compare galleries and 2) I definitely don't compare price tags and give no weight to the idea that costlier is inherently better.
End of the day though, if they're buying art they don't like just because I bought from the same artist, then the joke is on them. If they love everything I buy that much, well that is a compliment I suppose. Whichever, as long as they're not watching me through binoculars or a scope, I wouldn't spend too much time worrying about it.
Hmmm..on the bigger picture, it is great business for the artists! Perhaps you should turn this into a service!

You're so right, Caem! It is a compliment, however if a back handed one. I suppose depending on the frequency of which it happens it could pose as coming off as slightly odd.

Although it upset me for this person to commish art from Tyra after they had seen my Tyra piece to say that any art they commission is expensive, and I show them cheap but decent art. It was like a slap in the face.

Would be a little odd, yeah, but then again I tend to go tromping around on my own path through dA and most aren't CoH-centric artists so I always consider it a job well done if a bunch of CoHers commission stuff from an artist after I do
And really, price has nothing to do with art, my soft cap for single character art is close to 5 booster packs lets say but I love everything I've gotten probably just as much as someone with three figure budgets loves their own gallery....so long as you love the art you have and the artist knows you love it, who cares what anyone else thinks about you or them
I don't know if people realize this or not, but every time someone commissions Foo he goes out and clubs a baby seal.

Thanks for the input, ya'll!

(I kid Foo because he stole my hat!)
I think I totes have in a way, haha! I commished Tyra-WM and at that time, she was basically completely open, no one had heard of her... and now she's doing art for everyone! I am not sure if it's conceited, but I feel like I played a big part in that and am so happy to be bringing work to our fabulous artists!

Bringing an unknown artist new business would be a huge plus for me, and sounds like it is for you as well

As for the second part... Perhaps they mean it in a good way, that they couldn't find any good artists at such reasonable prices? Sure, I can see how you can take them saying "cheap but decent" with a negative connotation but flip it around... Put the negative connotation on their buying "expensive" stuff, sounds like they're now regretting that they overpaid. *shrug*

I wouldn't be upset at the situation in the OP (although I guess it could get weird if taken to extremes). If anything be happy for the extra business for artists you obviously appreciate.
I think you might be under a mistaken assumption here, people. What I do is take a baby seal and save them from the wild and then take them to a Seal Club where we give it a bath and feed it and care for it until it's ready to be eaten.
Basically, I looked at it from a different perspective. It hadn't bothered me really, until what was said and it made me take a step back and I felt slightly insulted. That has passed with the opinions ya'll have voiced.
Foo, I've been watching your avatar for a few minutes. It. Can't. Stop.
He likes what he sees.
...a fellow acquaintance or the like commissions the exact same artists as you do?
Example: Another player who you've met has your dA on watch, and when you receive a new commission, they're quick to commission that same artist? I'm not talking about once or twice, but nearly on every piece of art you commissioned.
Maybe you've suggested artists to the 'friend' as well and they commission them also, only to later say 'My art is expensive, soandso just points me to the cheap but decent art', when their gallery is filled with the same. very. artists you commission regularly (what an insult!). The galleries could be identical if it were not for the difference in OCs.
I'm just curious and this of course, is only hypothetical.
