E-mail SG invites
I actually suggested this (again) recently in another thread talking about desirable QoL improvements. I even suggested a possible mechanic for its implementation.
The idea is that if an sg invite was sent to a GLOBAL name instead of a local name, instead of sending the pop-up window, it would generate a Certificate or Voucher to send to the person's email. They could then claim this Certificate or Voucher via the email system.
This has been requested so many times by so many people I find it hard to believe that the folks at Paragon Studios are well aware of the desire. Usually, if there is some technical reason why a feature can't be implemented (or would take considerable time), a red name will come and explain that. Since that hasn't happened (to my knowledge) with this particular feature request, I assume this on the list of things that they have just decided they do not want to do.
A likely reason for this is the difference in the average retention rate of someone who primarily plays alone vs the average retention rate of someone who primarily plays with others. While they don't want to make it impossible for you to have a personal SG and base, they don't want to make it too easy either. Still, it's a much easier task in CoH than it is in some other MMOs. In the MMO I worked with several years ago, if you set up a guild, and the membership fell below a certain point for more than a few days, the guild was automatically disbanded. Each account was allowed 5 characters slots, and the minimum number in a guild was 10 members. These magic numbers meant you needed at least 2 people (or two accounts at least) using all of their character slots in order to keep the guild going.
Still, CoH has made strides to make interaction between your alts a lot easier over the past year. Issue 18 gave us the ability to send our alts inf and items cross server and even cross alignment, so who knows if they may some day remove the final barrier and let us have our offline or mail based SG invites.

It really is an overdue improvement, not just email/offline invites but offline promotions as well.
