Question: Are their any powers for melee ATs that debuff enemy resistance outside of the Ancillary/Patron powers?

As near as I can tell there are not but I thought I would ask those who know the game better then I.

Any Tankers Tier 1 attack.

Otherwise not that I know of.

Bruising is the tankers new inherent power that was released with i18.

Well thanks. I forgot about Bruising, for some reason I thought it was a defense debuff not a resistance debuff.

Thanks again! Looks like my scrappers and brusiers will just have to do without.

But I think Bruising effect can't stack from different Tankers? True?

Shatter Armor is a very decent attack but it's from Mace Mastery for SoA. Fits Bane perfectly except you have to take either awful Mace Beam or utility power like Web Envelop.

Shatter Armor also can't critical from Hidden.


What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

The only known attack powers with Resistance debuffs as a secondary effect are Sonic Assault, and the whip from Demon Summoning.

Since there has not been a melee counterpart to Sonic, and Demon Summoning has come out, it's possible melee is due for a -Res set. Sonic came about long after the release of the game, though, and -Res is in and of itself a rare effect that the devs seem to try and want to keep rare. It cannot even be slotted for Enhancements. I'm guessing that an effect that just makes you do more and more damage is such a valuable one that it will always be hard to come by.

I would also like to see Radiation as a melee power, as it has -Def. Not quite as good as -Res, but at least it is an offensive benefit. Then again, most bladed weapons (Broadsword, Claws) have a -Def power in there somewhere. There just isn't yet a set that does all -Def.

I also believe Kinetic Melee is the first set to do -Dam.

Dual Pistols Piercing Rounds has a resistance debuff in the standard rounds.

Also of note for the OP, if you have any attack that accepts defense debuff sets, you can slot the Achilles Heel Proc, which gives a chance for -Resistance.

Good note, although I was talking about secondary effects as a whole across the Set. Like DoT for Fire or Slow for Ice.

I do believe -Res is pretty rare even as a unique effect of a power, though. Piercing Rounds is a good example, but I can't think of any others offhand.

Yes, my Kat/Regen Scrapper uses this a lot. In a long fight, she can usually string together enough strikes with the Achilles Heel proc to keep a pretty permanent -res debuff on an enemy*. Making those fights somewhat...less long.

*note: the Achilles Heel proc will not stack from the same entity (player or pet). It will, however, extend the duration. It should work from multiple entities still (unless it has been changed at some point), which was basically the only thing that makes the Mercs MM set worthwhile.

Seems to me like most debuff sets have just one power in it that give -res so I'm hard pressed to argue that given how rare -res is but common -def is. It is just a little frustrating at times if you are soloing using one of the several melee sets which use nothing but lethal damage since some high resistance enemies can really stone wall you.
