I think there has been an unaffiliated group putting these together the last few nights in the early evening. They were announcing them on the regular Justice globals. I know the one the night before last was successful, not sure about last night.
A bit of advice, I think those teams were accepting debuffers etc over other showups. So, if you want to get on a team with your badger, and you are not a Rad/Kin/DDD....I recommend you pick up some nukes, a shivan, and an HVAS and then announce that you have those when you are asking to join a team.
Also, if that doesn't work for you, I am sure that TL and LoJ and a few other friendly SG's will probably plan up a few more of these in the future.
I'd like to get this badge with my Tanker, but I'm always willing to help.

Last night was a fail. When you do CoP, be sure to listen to the raid leaders.
When I was there last night, they wanted 3-4 tanks, as much -regen as they could get, and badgers.
I beleive the Dynamic Justice SG hosted last night. They have a chat channel called the "Channel of Pain" that they use for annoucements.

I would much rather sign up with a friendly SG, than stand around waiting and not get in like I did last night; hence the forum post. And I am perfectly willing to get nukes and shivans to help.

Most people haven't run the CoP trial before so usually there will be a large percentage of people who won't know what to do.
Having up to 24 people in a raid means there is always someone who AFKs or switches or needs shivans/HVAS/nukes at the most inappropriate time.
Since the two phases of the CoP require a strong degree of coordination between everyone involved, a lot of time is spent by the team leaders trying to figure out ways to make sure everyone is synced up and listening. Probably the majority of the time is spent working on this, actually. If you've ever done an Abandoned Sewer Trial, just imagine having 3 teams instead of 1 and you can see where the source of frustration can be.
The AV at the end has a huge amount of regen so timing and pacing are needed to overcome him in the narrow window of opportunities that are given between spawns.
As usual, good teams/leaders will make the CoP look easy. Poor teams/leaders will make it look hard. YMMV. Until the majority of each team knows their roles and responsibilities, count on more downtime during raid formation rather than actual CoPing.
I hear castle is tweaking CoP not sure when that is going live though.

The AV is sometimes shooting through his "OAS" shield, but they haven't been able to replicate it reliably, so I'm not sure how much progress is being made on it. Castle did say he was going to talk to the rewards guys are increasing the rewards, and as soon as THAT change makes it to live, I will start running them again. I wouldn't be opposed to joining one now, but I'm not going to schedule, plan, or lead another one until that comes to live, and we've done pretty well on it so far. As it is now, its all the preparation and headache that goes with getting everything and everyone ready, then the very difficult trial itself, and then the slap in the face of "You have 6 merits and a near worthless temp!" Such a shame to see such a long promised and long awaited trial being ignored so quick.

I think the whole game has been on a downward slope to easy street ever since the Hero respec trial was toned down.
The Master of ... badges were indicative of the general idea of why PvP also is a failure in CoX. Almost every single game/scenario/task force is geared such that the player wins...every time. Games where you win 100% of the time is frankly boring.
There should be events where only a few people are able to finish a task but the player base has been fed such pablum that everyone expects to be able to cruise through things without much difficulty. This leads to people leeching, door sitting or pouting just because they can't get their way.
I want some fiber in my diet. I know everyone wants nice things, but I really don't care about the rewards anymore...sometimes increasing the reward means that people just get greedier. Of course, finding people to help you do difficult tasks is compounded when they all say they want to do something that yields a better merit/minute number...
Not all of us have a million merits from being able to basically do TF's all day everyday and are happy with SO's.
That said, i9 l00tz did change the game, and there really isn't any sort of challenge left in the game. Those two things are basically a fork in the game. The royal 'we' can do moSTF in 50 minutes with a success rate over 70% probably, CoP in probably 8 minutes consistently and Hamidon in 15 minutes or less with minimal temp power use.
Those are probably the 'challenge' items of the game for teams, the ones that give reward keep getting done.
The challenge falls to the wayside, you beat it a couple times, what is the point of going back repeatedly if you arent getting rewarded?
I like a good challenge, I've solo'd the vast majority of all the team content out now for the challenge. What is the point in doing it repeatedly though?
Maybe it just boils down to playing too much and the game at heart being one, or at least starting out as, a game for casual players.
I'm going to be contrarian here and say that I kinda like things the way they are. In fact if it was made harder I wouldn't mind either.

I would like at least a random recipe roll out of the trial. 20 merits seems fair. Maybe even split the reward table so that you can either take 20 merits OR X amount of merits + the temp power. Bump the difficulty up as much as possible/you like, but give me at least the choice of a random recipe roll out of it.
This game is super easy by design; a main ingredient of its appeal imo. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that the coming Incarnate system will finally provide the challenge that some of us are looking for. As long as the rewards are even on the low end of acceptable for the challenge presented, I'll have no problem gravitating my play time towards that content on a regular basis.
As the CoP stands now for me, 6 merits just aren't worth my time especially when raid teams are requesting that I invest time in Shivans, HVAS and Warburg nukes. For that kind of investment I'd rather just zerg the Hamidon and take the 53 merits.

There isn't really a point to building an uber l33t toon to do most activities. It's sort of the reason why emps are considered unnecessary...what's the point to bringing a healer to def-capped, health-capped super powered teams? In essence, you could solo everything so a team is unnecessary, so is there a point to the massively-multiplayered part of a RPG?
The rewards simply feed the cycle even more since they're not simply shinies. They keep making your toon(s) more uber and actually make an easy game even easier. Taking challenge out of the game isn't necessarily going to make it more fun, although in the beginning it sure seems great. I guess I'd rather be Batman than Superman.
I suppose the entire reward system needs to be refigured, although doing it at this point would be like trying to refit a leaky submarine whilst out at sea. If the rewards didn't feed into the functional performance of a toon so cheaply and quickly the game would probably have fewer problems like the power and influence inflation that we see today.

Seriously though, the devs have created Brain Storms, Vanguard Merits, TF Merits, Candy Canes, Tickets and a dozen other reward systems on top of the standard influence reward.
What is wrong with distinctive shinies that are not reward merits? I'd be happy with a single use non-stackable Hammer of Justice or whatever instead of more merits...even costume pieces like the KHTF has.
Since CoP is supposed to be SG based...they should award a temp power/bonus when you have SG members on your team or something to that effect, but the whole idea of simple merit rewards/min per task is pretty much the road to extinction if you ask me.
Soon there will be Alpha junk to go around as well...another form of non tradeable currency that will inflate everything else around it.
That is the crux of the problem...the rewards for the activity are ultimately self defeating. In other words, never look a merit horse in the mouth. As for i9, I had specifically cautioned that merits would pretty much create a merit bonanza for some people and increase the gap between the have and have-nots, as opposed to narrowing the gap. Now, if SG's were able to have slots like the current upcoming Incarnate slots that we could slot Enhancements in that gave bonuses whenever SG members were teamed, then I'd be all over that. You could have the CoP just drop random salvage that you would need to collect in order to craft whatever bonus enhancement. Or maybe have the trial drop a random recipe upon completion with the salvage dropped randomly during the trial off of the mobs, either way that is a system I could get behind because then my time spent invested will be rewarded in such a way that is on-par with the Invention system, i.e. a permanent reward.
You could even keep the caveat that the bonus only counts if playing in SG mode or teamed with a SG mate, but at least that bonus isn't going to disappear in a couple of days or after one use like a temp power does. You could also make it necessary that in order for the SG Enhancement to give a bonus not only must you be teamed with at least 1 SG member, but that member must also have that same enhancement slotted. Things like that could make for a different experience and add a new layer to rewards that currently just does not exist in our game.

If the CoP were to provide a new avenue of permanent power growth via the SG system as I suggested above in this post, then I'd have no problem adding it into my regular gaming rotation. As it stands presently, however, the CoP is presented to me, the player, as a Rewards Merit task with a randomly chosen temp power that expires in a few days. In light of that I judge it as being a poor investment of my time based on the risk/reward ratio. The merit reward portion of the trial is a joke and the temp power is a game of "let's see if the RNG loves me today or not."
I agree with the other stuff you're saying.
*goes back to dancing*
Nothing wrong with a casual game, but then again, a casual game usually implies that there isn't a lot of depth. ie, not very much richness to keep the replayability levels high.
Ideally you want a game that a casual player can grasp easily and feel rewarded for playing casually, yet still have depth for others to continually play and feel rewarded without being overly compensated.
Never understood why they decided to double the influence earning of 50s just because it was 'bugged'. There's been lots of things that were working as designed but changed to smooth things out. There weren't enough inf sinks to begin with, and making the rich richer wasn't exactly a pressing matter.
EDIT: And sorry to threadjack :/

And honestly, I'm sorry Dan for the threadjack(s) >.> Once the aforementioned promised reward buff to the trial finally comes, I'll be scheduling a few, and I'll send you a tell.
I don't have a SG capable of running the CoP trial, and I'd really like to run it for the badge and new content. Anyone want to sign up to try and do this? Best time for me is Saturdays after 7, and Sundays. I want the badge on my scrapper, but could eventually bring a radiation defender or dark corrupter.
