This is a good example of how different people interpret differently and how hard it can be to resolve. I didn't read it that way at all. When I tank, I prefer to herd, but reading Tex's post I immediately thought of a group that used to play on Champion who did exactly what he was talking about and how awful they were too. I didn't think he was bashing the way I prefer to tank though...

At any rate, in regards to the OP, my "global advice" would be to start your own teams. Illusion/FF has so much mitigation in team situations that you could probably just "supplement" your phantoms with some characters built for damage and call it a day. A good blaster or two standing with an Illusion/FF will wipe out almost anything you throw at the trio... So if you're having trouble with some numb skull who has the star, take your own star! Haha..

@Gilia1
I play heroes on Champion.
I play villains on Virtue.

A robust /ignore list can be just as valuable as a good SG or /friend list. I look at every bad encounter as an opportunity to make my future game experience that much more enjoyable.

Ill/FF is far from bad. If people have a spare slot I recommend they try this combo. I never tried Controllers before because of the lack of an Blast primary/secondary. However when I rerolled for a Praetoria playthrough recently I thought I would try the build for a few levels. It has now been renamed to my main and is currently 26 (Most of my toons never make it past 12). The only thing it doesnt have going for it which is noticable is Debuffs.

My reasons Ill/FF is the business!

1. Confuse - IMO one of the best powers in the game.
2. Holds - Decieve/Flash.
3. Mez protection in the form of Dispersion bubble.
4. Lots of Defense is good. Team mates get more resulting in gratitude. IO sets make getting close to capped ranged defense easy.
5. Superior Invisibility - Non Supressing and at the stealth cap for PVE useful for Flash/Confuse.
6. Personal Force Field - Nothing like being almost invincible as the team gets ambushed by the armies of Praetoria.
7. Personal Invinicible Tanks. - Phantom Army loves taunting multiple mobs.
8. Phantasm - Good Old Phanty
9. Damage is not superb but the contribution from Phantom Army and Phanty along with
Spectral wounds is good enough when used with Containment.
10. Possible to have 2 Aoes using a patron and Repulsion bomb.
11. KB goodness with Force Bolt/Force Bubble. Can be used Strategically or just to grief the melee players. (Im not like that of course! )

I just wish someone had pointed out the awesomeness of this combination earlier in my gameplay.
