The funny thing is I originally tried to steer him in the right direction, contacting actual NCSoft support and then when replying to Sharker_Quint, sound like I'm suggesting he shouldn't have started the thread at all. I'm sorry about that.

However as someone who reads every post on the tech and player questions forum every day, a player who crossposts his problem in every thread anyone started on it within minutes of each other is a lot like the classic "are we there yet". People who pick and choose threads to read don't have this problem but for us serial readers the "deja vu I just read this post" can sometimes push our buttons the wrong way.

When a fellow player is having a problem that could be related just to their system, we prefer players to start their own thread since every PC is a unique snowflake of hardware, drivers and software running in the background. However if the problem is a connection problem or in this case a problem with the character's database, it's best to get everyone with the problem in the same thread. Why? It's easier to get a dev to read one thread then multiple. It easier to show the magnitude of the problem. And in the case with connection problems, help to find commonality such as a bad hop or common ISP.
