Gravity/Energy?
At low levels you're not going to have a lot of actual control, since Gravity is weak in that department early on. However you will have quite a bit of soft control from your Energy secondary. The playstyle of a low level Grav/Energy is very similar to a blaster. You have your hold for problematic targets, and lots of knockdown/knockback for keeping mobs out of your face.
Overall I've found my grav/energy to be a lot of fun.
Grav/Energy would play fairly similar to an energy blaster on steroids. You've got a hold for the nasty stuff, and chain knockback/down for the rest of the riffraff, with a few mostly-random stuns thrown in for good measure. Between Lift, Power Push, and the rest of your attacks, you can keep baddies out of the equation even if you don't slap down a "proper" control power. You'll pack solid ranged and melee damage, and plenty of control for small groups of enemies, but your large AoE control will be lacking compared to many other dom/trollers.
Rule number six of an empathy defender is NEVER underestimate a blaster's ability to die. I don't care if he has CM, Fort, both RAs, bubbles (both FF and Sonic), and is fighting next to a Storm defender with hurricane on. If there is a way to die in that situation, the blaster will find it.
Your AoE attack will also be lacking until epics as all you'll have is Whirling Hands and Crushing Field.
So long as you keep your difficulty setting toward the low end as far as number of mobs goes (you can jack it up for level and bosses), you'll be fine.
Please buff Ice Control.
Hi, all.
I have mostly played Controllers, but I have recently discovered the fun that is the Dominator AT.
One of the types of Control I never managed to get very far was Gravity. My highest Gravity Controller is 25 or thereabouts. As much as I solo, I just wasn't liking the set.
Now I'm thinking about taking a crack at a Gravity/Energy Dom. I have a Mind/Elec and a Mind/Fire, and a lil Elec/Earth that I just started tonight. There are a few powers in Energy I want to play around with as well, so it seems like a good fit.
How good a soloer would a Grav/Energy Dom be Blueside? Any particular glaring problems with the combo?
