Best. Trailer. EVER.
I second this. It wasn't my cup of tea. The show reminded me of a cross between the 60s Batman series and the Wacky Racers. In fact the first episode I saw was exactly that.
A little humor like in Teen Titans is ok but a complete series composed of goofiness just turns me off so I turn it off. |
Teen Titans was never funny. And if you want to see serious watch the Brave and the Bold episode "Chill of the Night".

Ok, I'll check out Chill of the Night. I'm always open to giving things a second or even third chance if somebody is willing to point out what I should be looking for. And as for TT being funny I'll agree that it really wasn't, but that isn't what I said. It tried for humor at times with food, fart, and failure jokes. However aside from these deliberate jokes the show took itself seriously.
Although it didn't take things nearly seriously enough with The Judas Contract adaptation. They never should have attempted to adapt that story line given their obvious network constraints.
Don't count your weasels before they pop dink!
I'm back. I just watched Chill of the Night and thought it was awesome. I pretty much figured I'd like it when I saw it was written by Dini but it's good to have my faith confirmed. So you have shown me that B&B is more than just that Three Stooges comedy of the couple episodes I've seen. Now I'm going to have to check out more episodes and hopefully the two I originally saw, and the trailer linked in this thread are complete flukes.

I liked the one with the sidekicks. Then there's the Red Tornado and "son" episode. Then the Blue Beetle Vs the Green Lantern Corps. Then there's the JSA episode. There are a lot of serious episodes and yes, a few corny ones tossed in. But throughout, Batman is always Batman, deadly serious at all times.
As for Aquaman, he's the antithesis of Batman. He loves hamming it up, telling grand "fish stories" about all his battles. He's the boisterous friend that you put up with his tales because he'll always have your back.
Blue Beetle is post Kord BB so don't get too upset.
I enjoy it because other than later JLU episodes, you got to see a number of teamups with lesser DC heroes and villains. The further down the list, the sillier the episode in general. You will not like any of the Plastic Man episodes, guarantee, assuming you like your hero drama always serious.

Have you actually WATCHED the show though, and given it a chance? Or just based your opinion on snippets and posters? Because I'll be honest, I was worried when it was first announced (I'm a huge fan of Batman: the Animated Series, myself, and still think it's the best depection of Batman ever), but after I actually watched a few episodes, I enjoyed it. It's not even close to being anything like the godawful Schumacher film (The ONLY movie I walked out of).

I saw part of the episode with the Joker teaming up with Batman, as much as I liked Ceaser Romero in his Joker role, that is what it reminded me of, and I did not like it.
Perhaps there are some serious episodes. I can't say there are not. All I know is that the art work, voices, and over all feel just was enough to push me away right off the bat.
(Heh heh... bat pun)
Much like The Batman, this was a series that simply would not appeal to me.

But this Aquaman is awesome. He tamed a white blood cell!
Speaking of which, that episode with him and The Atom was one of my personal favorites.

See, I've never read any Aquaman comics. My previous exposure to him was Superfriends where basically it's all "let me summon X to my aid" telepathic powers with sea life, the ability to breath underwater and swim really fast. I don't remember him being superstrong and if he's not in the ocean, or near a public aquarium, he was pretty useless.
This one has a bit of personality over that white bread version and he's useful landlocked as well. Yes, he's not the long hair, one hand, brooding Aquaman of JLU but both of these characterizations are an improvement.

Which of the two versions of Aquaman (between the Brave and the Bold and DCAU) made possibly the worst game of the last console cycle after Drake of the 99 Dragons?

I like The Brave and the Bold Bat Man it remind me of the 60 Batman, I Grew up Watching, It not like that Depress Dark Gloomy Bat Man you see now. Lol that trailer is half bad and is enjoyable to watch, well done

Take his vehicles. The scallop winged Batplane (I had a model of that as a kid) or the "bat shield" nose of the Batmobile are throwbacks to the 1950s Batman. Even that was before my time and I have no idea what the dialog was like from the comics back then.
According to Wikipedia, The Brave and the Bold comic took off in the mid 60s due to the Batman TV series and became an exclusive Batman teams up with <blank> comic. I also have no idea what the dialog was like in those comics either.

And that's another thing I like about The Brave and the Bold. It's got a lot of fanservice, like JLU but with more screentime for the minor characters used. I think Red Tornado has more dialogue in just one episode of B&B than he had in the entire run of JLU.

Probably very similar.

Seriously though, things that are being said here are not an encouragement to me.
Aquaman in the JL and JLU from the Timmverse is closer to an idea of Aquaman making jokes. The Superfriends just failed to portray him appropriatly.
On the other hand Crisis on Two Earths did a great job of making him awesome.
