My shot at Elec/Fire

First off, I am aware that these 2 sets kind of clash. Being that Combustion's long DoT will mess with Static Field's Sleep. I'd mostly be using it as an Alpha soaker with this character. Figured I could use SC>Confuse>Chain Fence>RoF>Jolt>Combust>Fireball>Jolt & be pretty well off. Please correct me if I'm wrong with this thinking though. Haven't even created the dude yet haha. Trying to work out any kinks before I get started. I was surprised I came up with this kind of recharge with only 1 LotG though. Pretty sure if I could push to 120% recharge bonus if I switched a couple things out. But enough talk here's the build. Any ideas are welcomed.

I would personally drop the leadership powers, but that's just me. I also think Tesla Cages is underslotted by 1 slot, and I prefer to slot and use my Flares power, even in the end game. Your Jolting chain may be underslotted, but hey, its adequate I suppose. I myself would drop Consume, and I do like Paralyzing Blast. Ooh! And you skipped Fire Breath. I think the confuse power gives you a great opportunity to use Fire Breath safely before you move in.

So we would do things differently, but your build seems workable I suppose.

Wow. Looking at it again, Electric/Fire is a tight build.

Normally, I never take Incinerate on a Fire Assault Dominator, due to the fact that the set does most of its other damage at range, and so I drop Incinerate for the slots. Flares + Fire Blast + Blaze is usually all I need. However, Electric Control is one of those sets that begs to be played in close, and as such, it is hard to skip Incinerate.

I guess this is more or less how I'd build at level 50. I even think the power selection and slotting would work, with some struggling, as an actual level-up build. It is a pie-in-the-sky almost perma-hasten build, but you could level with it using generics and/or frankenslotting.

If you were willing do drop Incinerate, or else not slot Flares, the build would get a lot less tight. You could throw a slot on Tesla Cage, and then with some slot shifting you could throw 2 more recharge on Hasten (for a total of 5) for perma-hasten. Or you could just throw 1 on Tesla, one on Fire Blast, and one more wherever you like.

But yeah tough, tight build.

The main reason I have to Leadership pool is because between Domination refilling my end bar, Conductive Aura, And Consume, I don't think i'll need the fitness line. I also don't particularly care for for Flares, just never really took a liking to it. I also had a slot left over in my build, placed that in Tesla Cage. Oh, and I don't really like using Cones, which is why no Fire Breath. What would you suggest slotting into Jolting Chain then? I don't have the spare slots for another set of Decimation. And I have it coming back in 3 seconds.

Just something to think about ...

If you're facing big spawns, all you need for a full end bar out of Consume is accuracy and recharge. On my fire / fire, I get a lot of mileage out of damage procs in Consume.

And ... uh ... Rain of Fire, you say ...

I think I have to respec my fire / fire / mu

Mostly wanted to set bonuses from Efficacy. But yes, Rain of Fire & Fireball with Embrace of Fire. I'm excited lol.

Just for the sake of participating and comparing alternative builds, here is my aoe-heavy glass-cannon elec/fire dom build with perma-hasten. Not the cheapest thing in the world, but doable, and nothing beats a good chaotic glass cannon for fun.

I started an EC/elec assault dom to see what the hubbub was about with EC. I am inexperienced with dominators, not usually my cup of tea. I like the playstyle and new powers, especially static field, very much with EC, but I felt it could use some AoE dmg with it; so, I quickly rolled an EC/fiery assault dom so I could get fire breath. I don't mind the ticks of the fire DoTs on targets in the static field since it is a 'sticky' patch and reapplies every 5 seconds. I do wonder how Combustion would play with that. The other power coming up in my doms' builds is the AoE confuse. It seems the confuse with a teammate mind controller drove me nuts more than the scatter of knockback since the targets ran out of static field so that when the confuse wore off they weren't in the 'sticky patch' to get re-slept.

The patron/APP powers are a ways down the road, but deciding Linked minds vs. sleet/ice storm vs rain of fire/fireball/fire shield will be a delicious dilemna.

Nah it's only in the mid-teens, as I got distracted and focused on my other Praetorian.
However, it was playing great so far.

As a followup, now that the char is in the late 40s I can say that calling it a glass cannon was no lie at all. It is very fragile, and surprisingly not as endurance-friendly as you'd think. I think a lot of it has to do with how your playstyle works though.
In hindsight, I would softcap def rather than worry about permadom, as you spend so much time in the middle of mobs with tons of aggro.

Of my EC doms, I found the EC/fire required a lot more work to be successful. The biggest conflict is the long dot in some of the fire attacks. Fire breath isn't nearly as bothersome as the longer duration of the ticks in combustion. I can't recommend combustion on an EC/fire. Incinerate is ok since most of the time, spawns don't survive that attack . The fear from fire attacks, even though the spawn is slowed by static field, causes too much scatter. Fire is good damage though.

Yeah, on teams it makes for an okay combo but you definitely have a much rougher time soloing since your main mitigation is no longer the sleep but knockdown and enddrain, if you decide to use your aoes.
