No Zowies

I see on the patch notes for 8/24 that the praetoria missions that give you your first zowie missions (the flowers one) now has text to explain that. Good. My problem is that, since Beta, I have never seen a zowie show up on my map. Period. My map remains looking the same regardless, and no yellow star shows up. I am NOT color blind and I have great vision-- I should be able to see those yellow stars if they were there, but they are not.

I notice in Kheldarn's post about making those icons more visible that he points to the directory "\data\texture_library\GUI\HUD\Map\" as being where the files should be. I do not have that directory in my COH library. I only have \data\texture_library\GUI, but from there I only have Icons, MAPS, and V_MAPS ... no HUD directory. Actually, that data location is missing from Test, Beta, and Live directories. Is this a verified correct location for the file? If so, then I seem to be missing a directory. If it is, then something failed in the installation of this directory and maybe QA/programmers should look into it. May have happened to others.

FYI - I installed Kheldarn's solution after creating the necessary file locations. However, I still do not have Zowies showing up (I have a character with an existing Zowie mission-- nothing displays on his map).

On your zone map, have you disabled MissionObjectives?

When I was in the beta, I had not disabled MissionObjectives on my map and had this problem. They were apparently disabled by default (at least on MY install) and I simply had to click on them in the drop down to enable them.

I am not seeing those files either... unless I'm looking in the wrong spot.

Oddly enough, the zowies do show for me, but for the life of me, I don't know why. Also, when I'm in missions, the "final objective" marker is very sporadic about showing up ... don't know if that's WAI.

Kat, that option only exists in the menu you are looking at when you have one of these outside missions, or inside a instanced mission.

Arbiter Oates, the option in question disables itself on a very frequent basis and is off by default.

Hmm... interesting. I would have expected it to be a more "permanant" rather than "circumstantial" option. I wonder if the circumstantial nature of the feature could be a factor in its buggy-ness.

Also, I'm still curious about those files... am I looking in the wrong place?

No, you aren't looking in the wrong place. Normally, there is nothing in that location. Just as there is normally nothing in the locations for the various map pack files, etc.

It's just that if you put a file of the proper size and type in that location it will override the default built-in graphic that the game is trying to use.

Hope that clears it up for you.


If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
