MA/FA Invention Set's
Welcome back!
Do you have Mid's? The best and fastest way to get this info is to tinker about with Mid's and see what you wind up with.
That said:
In general terms, MA/fa is an excellent combo that reaaaaaally likes recharge.
MA has just gotten a major buff. Storm Kick, cobra strike, crippling ax kick, Eagle Claw and dragon tail seem the pick of the litter to me.
SK,CS, and CAK make a solid single target chain that includes quite ridiculous amounts of mitigation for free. (fire armor loves stun now)
Eagle claw can follow CS for HEAVY stuns. Or, Dragon tail can follow eagle claw for the huge criticals.
Dragon tail has always been awesome for mitigation, and it remains so.
Fire armor is all about Burn, fiery embrace, and blazing aura for a martial artist. MA wants damage, fire gives it up in spades.
Massive +recharge to get your healing flames running, get the Burn and other attacks back, keep the consume handy, etc, etc.
MA/fa is a very, very nice combo.
For sets, you want the usual suspects: A LotG in Weave and combat jumping and anywhere else you can tuck one in. Pick a couple of attacks you use a lot and five-slot them with purples for the +10 percent recharge in each. Go shopping in Mid's for +rech bonuses.
In the epic pools, scraps can now go villain and pick up patron pools. So, you can grab shadow meld for an 'I WIN' button, and get a ranged attack for free. Into which you can slot a third purple set for another ten percent recharge.
Or, you can go insane damage and grab Mu, for lightning and ball lightning. That will let you slot four purple sets for +recharge.
Etc, etc.
Have fun!
I just want to make a correct here, that MA is not a low endurance set.
With the recent I18 changes, MA now does take up more endurance than it used to than before, and it wasn't that much of a low endurance set. Specifically speaking, Crippling Ax Kick and Cobra Strike had their endurance costs raised slightly. It's not much, but I did notice a slightly quicker rate of END usage on my post-I18 MA/Regen. For short fights, it won't matter, but on protracted battles, I did notice it get uncomfortably low even with a 4.15 end/sec Recovery and Performance Shifter Chance for +END proc.
As for what you should build for in terms of set bonuses, I would agree that getting +recharge is your best bet. It will help up the DPs for MA, and it will also help bring back Healing Flame sooner as indicated.
As for what you should look for, you want to get at least +225% recharge into Storm Kick to get the best attack chain for MA (SK->CS/CK->SK->CAK). I slotted SK with 5-slotted Hecatombs, and the 6th slot either with a damage proc of a +recharge IO if you need it while aiming for that +225%.
With just the Hecatombs, you would need about +67.5% global recharge to get that kind of +recharge for SK with Hasten up.
Second best set bonuses to aim for is defenses, though if you don't feel comfortable your positional defenses, then aiming for S/L is not a bad idea either. I haven't played with /FA enough to be more help,
I went high recharge with mine, although since I don't play my 50's or have any money for purples or LotG's, I only made it to 55% recharge from set bonuses on my way to 50. Kinetic Crash six-slotted into Kick and Crane Kick worked well enough for me. 15% recharge and 6pts of KB protection as well as some other bonuses and enough Damage enhancement to make the attacks passable.
Haven't gotten round to altering the build for the new changes, probably won't, but it's a damned fun combo. Definitely go for the recharge bonuses.
Hello Guys,
With the new change of the 2 sets, i'm rolling a new scrapper.
But i've got a hard time to know wich invention bonus i should look for ?
I've played, back in the days, a FA tanker and i remember that healing flame was really needed to survive.
So i'm guessing that i should take hasten and pump out some +rech.
But what else after ? Should i go for some positionnal def in the 20's, or just go for S/L def ?
An other question is, due to the low endurance cost of MA, might i could skip consume easily ?
