Billing question...
Sounds like the timing may be skewed somewhere, not the first I've heard of it.
I'd be more worried about what the wife is doing!

Haha, a friend's wedding, to which I declined attending.
SO SHE SAYS!

I'm an idiot.
That is all.
Disregard thread.

I've already asked Support, but I'm afraid of what they'll say so I wanted to preemptively discuss it here, to understand what the mindset is.
I canceled my account just under two years ago, and it was inactive until August 6th (8/6), when I received an e-mail offering me a free gametime and an in-game jetpack for one month, to which I promptly renewed. As I was curious, I took it. I'm having fun in my return, but nothing extraordinary. However, my wife is going out of town the weekend of 9/10, and I decided that it would be a fun weekend to spend in the Rogue Isles/Paragon. So I checked my account to see that my account is only playable until 9/6. Oh no! So I bought a one month subscription at $14.99... And my account still says it expires on 9/6. The e-mail I was sent says my next payment will be due on 9/6. Is that intended? If so, what the eff for? Is it not logical that the paid time would be applied at the point that my free time would expire? If not, wouldn't it be almost as logical too apply the month from the date at which it was bought, therefore the account would then expire one month from today, on 9/25? On what planet is it logical for me to have basically just wasted $14.99 and not gotten anything in return? Thanks. I'm waiting for a response from Support, but I'm fuming at the proposition of just wasting my $15 for no reason and needed to get some sort of explanation, reasoning or understanding. |
Dude, I'm an idiot. Don't worry about it.
Alright, I'll explain so hopefully some of you guys can avoid the future public facepalm. SAVE YOURSELVES.
My indignation was based upon an assumption that NCSoft charged your account immediately when you applied a new month.
However, that isn't the case... They wait until whatever time you currently have to run out before they charge it.
I didn't quite realize this at the time. or I realized it at some point in the past and had forgotten.
In my outrage at seeing "Next Billing Date: Sept. 6," I didn't think that "oh, they must not have charged me right now," but instead "They charged me immediately and now they're going to charge me again in two weeks! INEXCUSABLE!"
I actually did the legwork and checked my account before the assumption, at least... However, I had recently bought one of the bonus packs, and as soon as I saw a charge from NCSoft on my recent transactions, I thought it was for the new month... Neverminding the fact that it was for $5 less than the month would have been.
Someone post a good fail picture for me.
Thanks for eight fun years, Paragon.

Well, I'm glad things worked out for you, even if it did cause a little redface.
But since your requested it

If you want it to charge you immediately (and add immediately) you have to choose the 1-time paypal option
And I think it's more a beer fail than double facepalm fail.

Think it has to be for double facepalm.
