Quickest Way To Get To Level 20

I know it seems like a poor choice for a thread title, and it probably doesn't reflect well on me, but I'm looking for a build that will get me quickly to level 20. I've been playing this game for a long time, but I've never liked Hero side. In fact, my main is a level 39 MM for the Villain side, and I find it difficult to play anything other than an MM.

I'm asking this in the hopes that one of the EATs, Peacebringer or Warshade, will change my mind about Hero side, or perhaps even draw my attention enough to give Hero side a chance with other ATs.

I'd understand if I draw the ire of some people that don't like me taking advantage of this new feature, but, then again, chalk it up to someone that's been in alt hell in every MMO he's ever been in, and needs to find something to hold onto to stick with Hero side.

Slightly off topic but.. why not try making your MM go rogue and try the blue content with it?

Because I want to try the epic archetypes, not simply try what Hero side has to offer. Or is it possible to make a Villain, go Hero, and go to level 20 and unlock Hero EATs? I've heard that it can't be done.

Yeah, that can't be done. You need a Primal Hero AT to unlock the HEATs.

So that means your best bet is skip as many levels as possible... I'm not a fan of it, in fact I honestly don't think it'll help you out at all in the sense that the HEATs may not be what you're looking, but I'll tell you what I would do if I had the desire:

Levels 1-6: This would be spent in the Sewers of Atlas Park on a team. It'll take about 20 minutes to breeze through those levels, and then you can just die and Hosp it out of the sewers.

Levels 6-20: The toughest part. If you have someone you can rely on, it wouldn't hurt to have them farm an AE mission a bit to try and get you up. If they can handle it solo, have them bump up the difficulty, let you tag along (thus an AT with some support would be handy, something with shields), and you can gain levels without playing.

If you don't have anyone handy to help you by farming an AE mission, then you may have to beg, plead, and buy your way onto one. I personally think it's tacky and is more likely to get you ignored, but short of playing the game, it's the only way.

Really though, I always want to suggest playing the game. I understand that's not in your desires, so whatever floats your boat. Just don't be too shocked when HEATs aren't really what you thought they were (seems to happen to everyone the first time). I think time would better be spent figuring out if it's the content you don't like, or the ATs themselves. If it's the Content, try rolling one of the ATs in Preatoria (if you have that option) and seeing if it feels fine. If it's the ATs, well... good luck.

I'm not new to the game or anything like that, Mr_Right. I really like the content and the game. I'm just not so happy with Hero side, because it's pretty boring compared to Villain side, especially with the lack of a MM.

If the HEATs don't work out for me, I'll just stick with Preat/Villain side, or just wait for some changes to the Hero side until I go on over there.

I'm also asking for a good primary/secondary set to go solo and breeze through those first 20 levels. It doesn't have to be good after those first 20 levels, since I'd probably delete that character and start over with someone I'm better at with or more willing to experience.

I was replying to this part. you can play the blue content with your MM and see if you care about it at all. Or roll a praetorian hero AT and play red content. You are not limited to Blue for blue anymore

Oh and try a Claws/WP Scrapper.
or Claws/Regen

I'm not assuming you're new, I just suggest playing through to everyone in general. I've been here for the better part of a decade now, and I still play through and don't skip anything if I can. It's just what gives me long term enjoyment from the game (weird, eh?)

I'm still not sure what the issue with leveling a Hero is... It sounds like it's the content itself, which would lead me to suggest that playing Preatorian is your best bet (since it doesn't seem to be the ATs).

And if you're looking for solo (something you neglected to mention, you simply wanted to get to level 20 fast), Scrappers are the usual recommendation for that. Offense first, with defense second is usually the way to go.

And if you're going to just delete the character, wait until you have a second at level 20 first. Once you unlock, it's only unlocked for as long as you have a level 20 or higher. So make the character on a server you don't care about, then you can level it and forget it.

Thanks. I think I'll go with WP. I'm better with click-and-forget types than having to remember to press a bunch of things.

Yeah, I know, I'm a lazy player. But, that's why I don't play the support types, because I'm no good when it comes to being mindful of other players. At least I'm not fooling myself into thinking otherwise.

My guess would be Rad/Sonic. You toggle up enemies, you shoot enemies, everyone does a lot more damage... you don't have any powers that directly target teammates. If you do happen to help out your teammates, so much the better.

1-6 sewers (maybe 7 or 8 with a strong team)
7-10 struggle in the wilderness
10-15+ Positron pt. 1 and 2
16-20+ Synapse.

Your key powers are Accelerate Metabolism, Radiation Infection, Enervating Field, and if you have a shred of endurance left over, Shriek and Howl.

Edit: Rad/Sonic is a defender.

Mini-guides: Force Field Defenders, Blasters, Market Self-Defense, Frankenslotting.

So you think you're a hero, huh.
@Boltcutter in game.

Since it will be easy to get teams. roll a Controller with a support with heals... you will find many teams that will cruise a long. Rarely I had a poorly built team that even my controls and heals didnt pull us through.

So far the fastest to 20 I have ever had was my controller. Second is making a true tank.. Tanker with like elec armor...slot up defense asap...slot up taunts in aura dot... so without taunt skill itself yet. you still can herd for the team... the +to energy defenses will go a long way to in GR.

just my thoughts ..this way you can unlock your Epic AT for heroes and fly a long in teams.

Mr_Right kind of mentioned that a lot of players are disappointed when they finally try a Peacebringer or Warshade. Veteran blue siders usually can't emphasize that enough.
My dissatisfaction with them isn't "disappointment" per se, more of a "OK now what?" when trying to level and/or slot one up. So many choices! I've always thought that they do a lot of things "well", but nothing "great".

The Kheld-specific arcs are fun though, a nice change of pace.

If you truly are a selfish player, the PB's & WS's certainly give you a little bit of everything... damage, survivability, heals, pets, inherent travel power... you shouldn't be able to complain of boredom. Good luck!
