Claws / WP new brute to experience Prateoria in relatively painless, fun way

Claws / SR new brute to have a much tougher time 1-20 in Prateoria, but ultimately be the kind of toon to take to 50, purple out, soft-cap, etc.

Suggestions?

Well you could soft cap your willpower or close too. Then youd have resistance and regen as well as good def. I have a 35ish SR but dont think id take him to 50. Maybe they are good though, idk dont see to many, just what Ive seen with def only sets is youre still gonna get hit, youre just not gonna have resistance to tone down the dmg or regen to recover from the blows.

With SR I always get the impression I just don't have a secondary for the first 20 levels which always makes playing one a challenge. I am currently playing one myself and I hope to get though the "un-fun" levels pretty quickly and avoid the urge to delete him. Once I can start slotting good enhancements though I think the set will be a lot of fun, so I say press on with SR.

I have done WP a couple times and they are definitely easier, but I tend to get bored with the set later.

does sr have a higher soft cap than other sets? at 35 i think with reg ios my sr is at about 30% all around. pop purps and it does ok. its just hurts when you get hit. But then i look at shield def. pretty much the same def with weave, about 30% s/l res, an awesome aoe. Id pick shield unless sr has a higher softcap and even then, I love aoe so id prolly still go shield.

Soft cap for defense is 45% no matter what set you use. Some just have an easier time getting there.

SR actually has the easiest time reaching the softcap for defense of any set. That is one of it's advantages. It also has the best defense debuff resistance of any set also.

That is the draw to play it for me, but I have a hard time getting past the early levels because I find them not fun with SR.

Claws/WP is great, but end-game it's best to go with Claws/SR. Shockwave is amazingly powerful from a mitigation standpoint, and CLaws/SR blasting +3 spawns around a map to limit incoming damage is just more fun that a Claws/WP that's limited to Spin and Eviscerate.

With SR, you can use Spin and Eviscerate as much as you want, and when things go south just ragdoll the entire spawn. WP can pretty much never use this skill because of the detriments of scatter on WP and RttC, which is unfortunate becasue Shockwave is one of the most enjoyable abilities I have used in this game.

That's a good point, thanks. I could use some help -- just coming back to the game really -- figuring out the best way to soft-cap an end-game Claws/SR using as many "goodie" sets as possible these days. I have the cash to all-out purple if needed.

SR is very close to softcap by just taking CJ and Weave slotted with regular IO's, about 39%.

You do have to take all of SR to get there, but I wouldn't skip the passives in this set anyway. From there it is very easy to pick up a few sets for that last 6%, much easier than any other set.
