Me personally am going to get as many of the new Blueside badges then make my way over for the 6 month/1 year long stay Redside. Maybe by that time Praetoria will be open to Primals.

What sucks is I know I'm at least 15 badges ahead of everyone else registered on badge hunter (which at this moment most likely means ahead of *everyone* "redside") but the site won't let me in to verify 
Plus Cohtitan hasn't even bothered to update their badge lists so I can't verify there either.

Just to note I've been flagging up badge errors with Beefcake on badge-hunter.com. So far the only problems have been:
Spellbinding not awarding automatically for Rogues (will work for switched Heroes or if you petition)
Hero Slayer, Blackguard and Paragon of Vice morph into new badges and the changed names weren't verifying properly. Two are now fixed and hopefully Beef will fix Paragon of Vice today.
A lot of badges morph into fun things when a villain becomes full Hero. My favourite is Archvillain becoming Ex-Archvillain 
Badge Hunter is also missing the alternate names for the Patron badges, but this isn't affecting verification.

I'm waiting for the seven day cooldown for my affirmed heroic status to kick in, then we shall see if Neuronia goes Vigilante (unlikely, but there are badges...) or whether I just catch up on the rest of my badges. So close to 750...

Since you listed errors, going to take a moment to point out that Surging isn't awarding for vigilantes. Already /bug'd but in case anyone was wondering about that side of the equation. So far its the only one I've found though.
EDIT: This has since been fixed supposedly, and I was awarded it via petition, so disregard.
I just switched to full hero before maintenance with only a few minutes to spare.
At the moment I changed, a whole mass of badges were dumped on me. I now have both versions of each accolade badge - not the powers obviously just the badges.
I also gained a bunch of Gladiators and my old friend Multidimensional
Some of my badges switched from vill to hero version.
The weird thing is, I think I lost a few badges too. I think my Villainous AE badge became Heroic and my mission badges vanished. I only had like 1 minute to check so I will look again after maintenance.
