Returned to CoH, a few questions though...

The best way to get into TF/SF groups is through the Global Chat channels. Most, if not all, servers will have some dedicated to finding groups for such, and as long as you're not trying at some silly time (4:00 in the morning for example), you can usually find people willing do do stuff.
Regarding raiding, there's still not much (many, including myself, consider this to be a good thing). Hamidon and the Mothership are the two existing ones, while the Cathedral of Pain will be reintroduced with Going Rogue. Again, the best way to do these is through the channels. Often there'll be regular raids, MS in particular.
It is possible that I just have bad luck or most of the players in the game at this time have moved on beyond the SFs I am capable of running. I guess the long and short of it is trying to decide whether leaving the Champion server is a good idea and, ultimately, trying to network and meet people via these forums. Anyone have an alt crew that loves to go through all the old stuff again? ;-)

As for people moving "beyond" your level of SF, auto-exemplaring with XP, merits, and badges often make any TF/SF more appealing to even higher level characters.

The Champion server has a global channel specifically for Badge, monster hunt and Task force called BMT of Champion. It's a private channel to prevent spammers and keep the discussion on those related topics but it's a great way to find Task force at pretty much any time of the day.

The Hamidon raid can be done by any server, it requires at max 50 players (zone cap) but it was done by as little as 16. So the server population doesn't really impact if the raid will be doable or not.
As RosaQuartz said, Champion has A LOT of event planned for almost every day of the weeks (too much sometimes) so it's not hard to find people to play with and enjoy the game.

Being willing to join other people's teams will get you some TFs and SFs, but being willing to form the team and recruit members will usually let you do as many TFs and SFs as you want. So, you can get on those channels to recruit members. Another way is to use the team search function and set up a macro asking anybody high enough level if they would be interested. I use something like:
/macro Join, /tell $target, Interested in joining a team doing a <name> <Task or Strike> Force? Reply only if you are interested!
Be prepared to explain the level requirements of the TF/SF.

Rikti Mothership raids are also scheduled. The main reward for those is lots of Rikti Merits. The Raid starts with taking down the pylons in an organized fashion, but overall, Mothership raids tend to be a lot more chaotic than Hami Raids.

Exemplar is the system where a player levels down to do content with others of lower levels correct? That works for Task Forces as well?

Several of the lower level TF's are a lot of fun and popular, one of my favorites is Sister Psyche at 20-25; it's freakshow, flows decently, can be done with a competent team in around 2 hours or less and gives 50 merits.
If you've been away long enough you may not know about merits and the entire Invention System... I'd suggest checking out Paragon Wiki for some information; it gets complicated in a hurry.
