Soloing /x8 with a Crab Spider. What Powers and tactic?
I have a huntsman, and this is what I do. probably not the most efficient thing but it works for me when I farm.
I target someone in the middle of the pack, fire off venom grenade and heavy burst. I then close to melee and let them surround me for a bit (I assume you've got pretty high defenses + much better resistance than I do, having fortification ). I then fire off wide are web grenade (aoe immob.) and venom again. Jump out, aim and fire heavy burst, then finish off with frag grenade.
EDIT: I used to fire off web grenade first, but I found that having them cluster around me first then firing it off catches a lot more of em in my trap. We're soldiers, so we've got naturally high defenses due to TT:maneuvers + we're easy to get capped or near capped thanks to set IO bonuses.
Also, I'd advise you against Omega. For the damage vs. recharge of the power, you'll be much better off picking another normal aoe power.
I just use Venom Grenade -> School of Sharks -> Arctic Breath -> Bile Spray -> Suppression and let the pets mop up stragglers.
Although I've only done this with 1/8 and not 2/8.
My own Crab generally opens with Venom Grenade, or Omega then Venom if it looks to be a troublesome spawn. Then I cycle Suppression, Frag, Venom so long as they're at range and there's still minions/lts alive. Anything that gets close gets Arm Lashed, and if the fight lasts long enough to matter I may back around a corner to re-gather the spawn. I used to have Bile Spray in my AoE chain and I did kill faster as a result, but I dropped it for the Fighting Pool which has improved my overall success rate. I don't have an immob, but largely for thematic reasons - I'd try to make room for a crab-arm-launched web grenade if one were available.
Re: Pets, my experience of x8 was that the pets usually didn't survive long enough to matter much (though admittedly I was fighting Malta most of the time). I suppose they offer a bit of aggro distraction, but they can also split up the spawn a bit as a result.
OK, think i will go without Pets and Omega Maneuvers. This is the concept-build i made last night. I tried to avoid the more expensive Sets (I'm a bit low on Inf after IOing some of my other Toons in the last Weeks):

Maybe i take Aim instead of Serum, i'm not sure about it atm. and will decide later on.
I mainly played Tanks, Scrappers and Brutes. With them the tactic while soloing was easy...jump in and burn the AOEs, target the lieutnants and use the ST-Attacks till AOEs are up again. I don't know what tactic is the best soloing large Groups(+2/x8)with a Crab and what attacks to use.
Hold the NPCs at range with Web Grenade, then use Poison Grenade, Supression or maybe jump in and use Frenzy? Should i take Heavy Burst too? And how useful are the Pets and Omega Maneuver for a Soloplayer(i have to solo 75% of the time)? I have no Room for all of them in my Build so what Powers would you say are essential for soloing? What tactic do you use with your Crab and what are your Experiences soloing larger Groups?
