First Red State Plot Details Emerge

Bloody-Disgusting has gotten a hold of the first plot details from Kevin Smith's new horror film, Red State. Take a look at the first logline for the film below.

"In the film a group of kids encounter a crazed preacher (based on Fred Phelps, founder of the Westboro Baptist Church) who gives a whole new meaning to the term 'extreme fundamentalism.'"


Michael Parks will star in the film and, as we reported last week, Dermot Mulroney, Michael Angarano, Kyle Gallner, Stephen Root and Melissa Leo were also in talks to star in the film as well.

The site reports that filming will start sometime later this month, but last week Smith himself revealed on his Twitter account, that filming was scheduled to start on September 22.

We'll be sure to keep you posted with any further details on Red State as soon as we have more information.

Red State comes to theaters in 2011 and stars Dermot Mulroney, Michael Angarano, Kyle Gallner, Stephen Root, Melissa Leo, Michael Parks. The film is directed by Kevin Smith.

Heh... well that's an EXTREMELY vague 'plot' point and not really much that can generate any kind of meaningful discussion. But at least now we have some idea of what the film is going to be about. Though if it's like every other Kevin Smith movie then there will be a SERIOUS amount of dialogue in it interspersed with the occasional horror scene to remind the audience this is in fact a scary movie
