Help with a Stone/Stone Tanker Build
Can you post your current build? I have a stone/stone now which is all I play.
Here is my planned build for my current project which is a Stone/Stone tank. It's a little on the expensive side but the LOTG +7.5s probably will come down in price after the market merge.
I duo with the wife quite a bit and do some small team, so I built around non-granite viability as well as a nice Granite setup. It's capped for S/L defense outside of granite.
I am using Ninja Run as a short run travel power and also created a mouse bind for teleport for across zone travel which works well. Plenty of run speed bonus helps a bunch too.
Anyway, hope this gives you some thoughts.
Cheers

Hey LSK,
Thanks for posting your build. There are things I like about it. As I mentioned, I do quite a bit of duo and small team tanking, so I am not in Granite all the time.
If I am facing heavy Psi attacks, I am not going to be in Granite at all, preferring to go with my Rock/Crystal/Minerals setup which has me over the soft cap for both S/L and Psi and 43% on EN/NE.
I was just posting an alternative build for the OP to consider, if he decided he didn't want to go Perma-granite.
And as far as having too much defense - I thought was something we could never have enough of? I like you - but you crazy *wink*.
Cheers

Sorry its taking so long I have to rebuild my build in Mid's from scratch and I've been a bit distracted. Both you have very impressive builds and I like what i see. Of course I'm not use to using teleport. I should have my build up by tommorow but I'll admit its not very impressive and pretty laughable
Teleport is like the only way to travel in granit or if u have rooted on. But if u do not want those then i guess u can use some other form of travel but mind you those 2 are your KB prot, and other resistance. You can not use sprint while in those 2 either.
I grudgingly took teleport with an eye toward only using it as a last resort. I am a big fan of Hurdle/CJ/SJ and have that on basically all other toons I can think of besides maybe two.
I have come to find it quite valuable and workable now. I had been turning Rooted on and off quite a bit to run around, but this was getting more and more dangerous. I actually faceplanted on a couple of missions where I got mezzed and killed (damn Council caves!). I finally started to embrace teleport more as I got more comfortable with it.
The bind setup makes it painless to use and I have gotten used to it now that I have been using it a lot more with Granite up. I use it a lot of for my long travel with a Jaunt range/end in it and it's pretty fast and easy using the mouse bind.
I would recommend you look at it since the other options don't work at all with Granite.
Cheers

Here is my current (hopefully final) build. I run granite exclusively, unless enemies are all Psi. I'm a lazy traveler, so I went with fly.

I like it. I can't imagine my build without Fault, but you may find Hurl Boulder fits your playstyle better. I find it to be a great opener and just love bouncing the bad guys on their butts as the team gets set up to wipe them out. It's also a great mule for the very cheap (relatively) purple set Absolute Amazement.
Otherwise, I don't have much to say. I like it and think you will have fun with it.
Cheers

A freind of mine created this new build for me to try. All of the builds posted are great. It's hard to tell which one is the best

Teleport is like the only way to travel in granit or if u have rooted on. But if u do not want those then i guess u can use some other form of travel but mind you those 2 are your KB prot, and other resistance. You can not use sprint while in those 2 either.

Incidentally, I took Super Speed as my travel power.
You probably haven't encountered my stone tank, or several of the others I've teamed with. A well-built stoner can easily keep up with the rest of the team in missions (so long as the map doesn't require too much jumping), and you don't usually need your armor in between.
Incidentally, I took Super Speed as my travel power. |
Some great builds here, but I hope I can get a little insight on something else. I usually play a Defender or Controller so Tanking is new to me. I have been doing a lot of Ouroborus (sp?) with friends lately and was hoping someone could suggest a good Pre-lvl 32 (pre granit armor) build as a secondary build.
Thanks in advance
Hello, I have a Stone/Stone tanker named Etinarg. He's pretty well known on Virtue the problem is I've never been truely happy with his build. I've had him for almost 2 years but making builds are not my strong suit. I'm looking for any advice or possibles that could help. He does rely on Granite Armor, and I used Super Jump for his travel powers. I don't know what I'm missing to make him beefier. He can tank fairly well though I've never completed a STF with him and for some reason He can make it through an ITF untill usually the computer fight. Perhaps its a End problem or something just manages to get through Granite. I'd really like some help. I haven't played him much lately and I want to change that.
