Add an off-topic section to the COX Forums...

Why not have an off topic section. IE, news on TV Shows, things from our childhoods, games, etc...

I don't think I'm alone in this either, it would be a welcomed add-on that would make alot of people happy.

You mean like the Comic Culture forums? The ones that are actually being scaled back in scope in the new forums rules in order to limit off-topic conversations?

You've basically described the Comic and Hero/Villain Culture section. I doubt they will be adding a true "Off Topic" section because there's too much chance for things to go pear shaped when players take it as their god-given right to talk about stuff that's against the User Agreement because it's "Off Topic", but for what you seem to want, the CaH/VC section should do the trick.

My story arcs: #2370- Noah Reborn, #18672- The Clockwork War, #31490- Easy Money

Sartre once said, "Hell is other people." What does that make an MMO?

That's what I ment, make a new section that was like the old comic culter forums.

Well, the way I see it, you have three options, and can use any number of them.

There's a spin-off forum that is happy to chatter about religion, politics and all sorts of off-topic stuff.

There's another, older spin-off forum (Can't remember the exact name "Comics Haven something?) that might be a good place for comics/culture stuff that will be outside of the new rules.

You might check into the "social groups" feature that tthese boards currently have. That might be an option, so look for the guide that was written recently. It might be helpful.

Aett gave you a brief summary but here's the official statement.

There is one significant change however, and that is how we will be handling the off-topic forums moving forward.

The off topic forums (Comic Hero/Villain Culture and to a lesser extent the server forums) over the last year have been the location of the most contentious and non productive discussions found on the forums. Frequently these non productive discussions have centered around a few topics: real world events, other MMO’s/other video games, and the physical forms of actors/actresses. As a result we will be tightening the restrictions on what is allowed to be discussed on these forums.

Going forward, non-CoH topics will still be permitted in these forums, but only those with some relevance towards CoH. Included in this list are: Comics, Anime, Science Fiction and Fantasy, and anything else that directly relates to the Super Hero/Villain Genre. While we wish to encourage discussion, often times topics not focused on these subjects quickly became filled with personal attacks and other non productive commentary. Such acts don’t encourage community within City of Heroes nor does it make the City of Heroes forums a pleasant place for visitors. This especially holds true for threads focusing on the physical attributes of real world people, which often cross the lines of acceptable content and therefore will no longer be permitted on the forums.
So the official answer is no, unless it's CoH related.
