What I like to do is if I'm soloing is I lay down 1 mine, sprinkle caltrops and use Teleport Enemy to zap someone onto it. If the mine doesn't kill them then at least the spikes will slow down the enemy enough for me to use my Cryo Bullets on them.
1. Lay down like, 23 Trip mines in a single area.
2. Pull AV around corner
3. Watch AV health bar drop 50%
Whining about everything since 2006.
Ammo switching for Dual Pistols was my idea:

In my opinion no. I also started playing a DP/Devices blaster (after a lot of hestation) and (having gotten it to 22) I'm having the time of my life doing so. While I see the point of it being somewhat leaning to soloing it can be a great team player IF you use some creativity (and some awareness on who's on your team).
For example Caltrops can be used to herd a group toward the tanks, or close of their escape forcing them to the group proper. Targeting Drone is great-period (it's nice to have a near 100%-to hit with a range power). Web Grenade can be used to hold a boss down so everyone can pound on it. And so forth.
(and did I mention how fun it is to see baddies run in slow-mo running thru you Caltrops as you mow them down with DP's various AOE attacks, just thought you want to know)
So keep running the toon and allow it t grow on you. With luck you'll find a way to best run it-and have a lot of fun doing so. And that is the point, right?
Plus the fact that Cloaking Device and Smoke Grenade give you some great survivability, and Targeting Drone is one of the best to hit buffs and it is not that heavy on endurance. I love /traps, Solo I don't die as much as my other blasters if at all, and on good teams, I can toe bomb a group while the tank/scrap is holding aggro. Gun Drone is nice, but a bit annoying I don't like resummoning it, but if you do it right before a group you get a pretty nice damage bonus.
I have Fire/Dev and it was fun all the way to 50, I don't care how subpar it is, I am playing an Energy/Dev right now at 19 so far, had to alter the tactics a bit and rely on Energy's KB to save my life, but overall, it is a pretty fun set, I wouldn't trade it, right now just having a hard time deciding on what APP I want to go with.
But Play what you like, when you live to be the best you loose sight on having fun and then it becomes more of a job and not a hobby, but to eaches own.
