Looking at purchasing a new computer
You aren't buying much if any more graphics power with that set-up over your E8500 dual core and a GTX 260. Sure more powerful CPU that can be overclocked simply and lots of system memory but graphics horsepower appears to be your limiting factor.

What would you recommend then?
*DOH* helps if I look at your sig links. The $1375 rig you have listed, did something drop in price or drop off the list as it is chearper right now.
I was looking to avoid assembling another system but figure I might have to do that to get much improvement.
What graphic card would you recommend to be able to handle the ultramode at max/near max settings?

I'm sure je_saist will say differently but the GTX 260 with 216 SPs seems to rank a bit better than an HD 5770 in other games. Sadly this game doesn't get benchmarked in those reviews so I can only use them as a point of reference. They generally show the GTX 260/216 beating the HD 5770 by a couple of percent (less than 10%).
The GTX 460, either version is currently hot at the $200-250 price point. The HD 5850 and GTX 470 at the $300-325.
As for my $1375 parts list. I don't count sales (+$45) and I try to leave a bit extra to handle any sudden price spikes but since I put that up in April prices have stabilized and started to drift slowly down again. Last year's list got price smacked badly when DDR2 prices doubled and $200-250 video cards all but vanished which forced me to raise the price target this year so I have a buffer again.

Tried my hand at making a Newegg build. $1300. $1400 if the instant savings go away.

If you aren't going to overclock the CPU, then you can't get the memory controller in the i5-750 to run RAM any faster than DDR3-1333. If you aren't going to be pushing the memory that fast, then you don't need such a extreme cooling solution for the RAM (they come with their own fan from crying out loud).
It's a vicious circle.

Beware of tall memory if you are planning to overclock the CPU. If you are going to overclock the CPU then you should get some kind of 3rd party heatsink and there may be clearance issues between the tall RAM and the CPU heatsink, greater chance if you are filling all four memory slots.

I wouldn't say you need a 3rd-party heatsink/fan for the CPU unless you're going to go ******* with the overclock (like 4ghz+). Especially with that case. Intel processors seem to OC so easily and still stay cool these days.

Intel's boxed cooler for the i5-7xx/i7-8xx series isn't really that great at stock speeds, over 70C under load. Compared to the coolers for the i7-9xx quads or the Core 2 quads, it's downright tiny.
Also the Turbo Boost is controlled by chip temperature as well as current draw so additional cooling means more reliable Turbo Boost.

In the past I have built my own systems but I just don't want to deal with doing that again and am thinking of purchasing a prebuilt system.
I have mainly been Nvidia for my video cards but have seen in many of the threads here that ATI seems to be the direction to go.
I am looking at this system or something similiar

Would this be able to run Ultra mode with the settings turned all the way up? I currently run a Intel 8500 with a Nvidia GTX 260 and have many setting close to the middle and get between 20-30 fps but cannot seem to get much higher without turning lots of things down. Resolution I run at is 1920x1080 (or whatever that standard size for an 24" widescreen LCD is)
If anyone has suggestions of a better place to get a prebuilt system or a better system configuration I am all ears. I am looking to be around this price range and might be willing ot go p towards $1500 but I am most likely be buying another monitor (probably 24") so I have to keep the rest of the costs at least somewhat in check.
Thanks for any help and suggestions.
