Reducing or removing Transparent effect of Stealth powers

Hello,

I have trouble making out my character when "invisible" during play.

I would be fine with 100% visible all the time, or some other way to be less see-through for contrast's sake (and for the sake of eye strain)

I am perfectly okay with being totally see through on other people's screen, or not, whichever is fine.

I am perfectly okay with no players being invisible on my screen, if that is the byproduct. Or they can, its all good.

I would just like for my character to be rendered more visibly/ less transparently in some fashion on my screen during invisible times.

you can always change your costume colors so you can see it better. and this is not a bug or really a technical issue. more of a suggestion. which belongs down a few sections. no snark meant so please don't take it that way. also, if you don't like the stealth effect, roll a different toon.

Thank you for your response,

Your forum id probably sums up the problem as well as anything

S.Quint

as in I need to squint, I would prefer not to. It is not a matter of whether I personally like/appreciate the effect or not.

I was referred here since this section has more technical fixes. I really would just need my client to stop rendering my character as transparent if that is possible.

lol. i like that S.Quint. anyways, i tried everything with my ninjitsu stalker other then changing the graphics settings and nothing. the only thing that i can suggest, if you are having problems seeing where your toon is, is to keep a travel power or one of the prerequisits on so that you have the effect on letting you know where it is or scroll in closer to your toon.

I am unsure if we can help you with this problem here as in general, client modifications are a no-no kind of subject.

There is a framework by which you can place files in a certain directory structure and the game will use them instead of it's internal copies of said files, but there's a couple issues with that. The first being I'm not even sure if a transparency effect is controlled by the game data files of if it's a function of the game graphics engine. If it's the engine, you'd be unable to do anything about it.

And if it is a part of the game data files somewhere, we can't really talk about where it is here because going through the pigg files is a taboo subject.

Thank you for trying to help!

I don't want to do anything that breaks any rules. So I guess it is a suggestion after all.

I guess I figured with all these travel power stealth IO's, people not wanting to be barely visible see-through would be pretty common.

Actually you are right, it is pretty common. Lot's of people work hard on their costumes and want those costumes to be able to be seen all the time. Unfortunately however that's just how the stealth powers work. So the options are either live with it, choose a character without stealth, or design a costume that looks good when stealthed. One of my characters won a costume contest with an outfit designed around being basically invisible so it can be done.

As I mentioned I don't even need to see my costume .. a black opaque shadow would be preferable for me than to be very hard to see on my own screen.

The mostly see through is just a game effect anyway - its not what a real "invisible" person would look like.

Otherwise even an enemy with bad vision like mine could just squint and shoot you between the slightly visible lines.

That seems odd. I've never had any problems seeing my own invisible characters myself. They are just translucent but you can still easily make them out. Maybe it's got something to do with your video card and settings. Try uploading a screenshot of your character when invisible so we can compare it to what we normally see.

To be honest, do you really need to see your character? I know you'd prefer to, but even if I can't see them, I know they're in the center of the screen like they always are.

'Course, I have my name flagged to "Always visible" in the settings, so that helps me.

Dec out.
