Wasp and Ant-Man are penned for Avengers 2

Eva Longeria is a lock for Wasp and Nathan Fillon as Ant-Man

Quote:
We got confirmation last week about Hawkeye, Black Widow and the Hulk joining the fight in the AVENGERS movie, of course. But the rumors that have yet to be addressed pertain to Ant-Man and the Wasp’s role in this cinematic team-up. We reported a while back about how Nathan Fillon and Eva Langoria were being rumored to play the incredible-shrinking duo, and then there was that brief hiccup of a rumor about Adrian Brody possibly donning the antennas. Now, Fox News (by way of Bleeding Cool) is furthering the discussion, saying that both actors will be showing up in the second AVENGERS movie.
Here are Fox News’ insider’s words regarding Longoria…
"Marvel is in negotiations with Eva and she is just right for the role… First, she read for the part, then she went into the studio for camera tests. The team liked her for The Wasp so much that she did green screen work in the late spring. She's perfect in size and attitude. Eva is cute, sexy and full of energy for the part."
There haven’t been too many names tossed up to play Ms. Van Dyne, so far (remember that one rumor about Olivia Munn cameoing as her in IRON MAN 2?) but I’d say that Longoria fits. Hell, give her a bob and curl her bangs and she’d look just like her.

Anyway, here’s what the source had to say about Fillon…
"Nathan Fillon, a favorite of Joss Whedon is set to play Ant-Man… They would be a dynamic duo - both are hilarious and together they will have great comedy and chemistry. It's a win-win if Eva can tie up the role."
Now that Whedon’s officially confirmed as a director, I’d say the chances are more than good we’ll see Fillon in some capacity. Between FIREFLY, SERENITY, BUFFY and DR. HORRIBLE, he’s got an established relationship with Whedon that’s spanned over four projects already… and those kind of relationships tend to endure. These are still, of course, rumors. However, if these names keep popping up this many times, in this many different locations, then you know there’s got to be more to it than just hearsay.

And nobody should be batting an eyelash about there already being a second AVENGERS movie in the works. That shouldn't surprise anybody.
So before Avengers even hits the theatre they are already casting for the sequel.

with all the big names involved, i'd be shocked if the first one DIDN'T generate gobs and gobs of money.

As always in Hollywood, stars are only truly locked into a role when they start filming said role, and even then, they can be thrown aside (Eric Stoltz and Stuart Townsend are nodding their heads right now).

true, but at this point, they've got the big three roles petty much locked down. (Cap, Iron Man, & Thor) there is the possibility that could all change between now and when they being filming, whenever that is, but with these particular actors i don't see them leaving the project.

but now that we've seen the heroes, let's see us some villains dammit. i don't want this flick to just be 'let's team up to beat the Hulk'.

... *snickers at an awful thought*

I just had the mental image of Ant-Man's introduction consisting of he's a television actor shooting a space-western... and his first on-screen Avengers appearance he's dressed as Mal.

Granted, none of this would fit with the existing lore of Hank Pym, Scott, and Grady, but it'd be awesome.

Eva Longoria takes the sting out of all the buzzing about her playing The Wasp in either The Avengers or Ant-Man: she told SuperHeroHype today that she has not been approached to play Janet van Dyne, but she'd might consider yelling "Avengers Assemble!" if Marvel Studios gives her a call.

"I keep hearing about that," Longoria said on the Wisteria Lane set of her TV series "Desperate Housewives." "I think it’s an Internet rumor as of now… I love comics stuff. I do, I think it's fun, but I don't know anything about that character. I don't know who or what that is."

"I think it’s a fantastic rumor!" she added with a laugh. "We're just going to go with it. Maybe it'll get me hired!"

The actress has an idea about just how her named got mistakenly attached to tiny, winged, superheroine-slash-fashionista. "I had taken a meeting about a different movie at Marvel, and that’s where the rumor started," she said. "When I was walking out, paparazzi caught me walking out and they thought I was going in to meet about that."

Since the notion came up, Longoria hasn't had a chance to check out The Wasp, despite some assurances that she might actually be perfect for the part. "I know she's small!" she laughed. "I've got to talk to somebody about that. I've got to Google her."

She is saying very publicly no that that she has not been asked. I think I trust the actress on this one.

One of the people, if not more, who signed a contract for the Marvel movies pretty much locked in the idea that the Avengers movies would go for a trilogy.
