Login Issues Anyone?
Yes, I had it yesterday, and this morning, and a few weeks ago. What I have found is that if you just let it run, it'll eventually give you the <--Next--> button. Sometimes it will have to count to 25 or so before it hits, but it will connect eventually. I don't know what's wrong, but if you are patient, you can still play.
Never argue with stupid people. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I hope so because I'm having the same issue here.
First off, the Login Server where you login to the game, or the updater which updates the game (the one where you accept the EULA)? If it's the latter, that's been happening to some people, and can be bypassed (assuming no patches are out) by running:
32bit Windows: "C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\cityofheroes.exe" -project coh
64bit Windows: "C:\Program Files (x86)\City of Heroes\cityofheroes.exe" -project coh
OS X: /Applications/City\ of\ Heroes.app/Contents/MacOS/cider --use-dos-cwd c:/coh -- c:/coh/cityofheroes.exe -project coh
For windows, I'd recommend just copying the command, pressing Windows key + R (to bring up the Run command dialog), pasting it in, then pressing OK. On OSX, I believe you need to go into the Applications folder, then the Utilities subfolder, and then run 'Terminal.app', then copy the command, paste it into the terminal, and press Enter to run it.
All of those commands assume you used the default installation directory, and will bypass the updater. If your client's version is not full up to date, you'll be unable to login successfully (you'll get a version mismatch error).

Yes this is all very simple to someone familiar with computers. I am not but am trying to figure it out. The updater is on #55 and still no connection. Bottom line is it should work as intended and not inconvenience the customer. Yes we know how to copy an paste but unfortunatly what your telling me isn't working and I am unable to figure out why. I'll try to login tomorrow maybe it works then.
Yes, but it's not doing this to the overwhelming majority of customers. Something is causing a problem for a relatively small number of people. There is a workaround and Kitsune is trying to explain it.

What operating system are you running? It's actually incredibly simple (copy, press a key combo, paste or copy, open a program, paste, enter).

If you would rather not try, that's your prerogative. If you would like a good work-around that takes about two seconds to perform, then I need more information than 'it didn't work'.

Simple speak version of Kitsune speak. Not including the OSX version since I've never used OSX.
On your desktop is the city of heroes shortcut.
Step one: Right click on the shortcut then click copy. Then right click on a blank area of your desktop and click paste.
Step two: Right click on the copy of the shortcut and choose rename. Change the name to bypass updater. Or stupid updater won't connect or peanut butter jelly tiime. It doesn't really matter what you want to call it.
Step three: If you are running a 32 bit version of windows then highlight the following including quotation marks.
"C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\cityofheroes.exe" -project coh
If you are using 64 bit windows then highlight this instead.
"C:\Program Files (x86)\City of Heroes\cityofheroes.exe" -project coh
Now right click the highlighted text and click copy.
Step four: Right click on the new desktop shortcut you made and select properties.
The window after "target" will probably already be selected. If it is then you can just right click it and choose paste. If the window isn't already highlighted then select everything in the window, right click, and choose paste. Make sure you select everything in the window because it's possible the full contents of the window extend past the visible area.
Step Five: Click the button on the bottom that says ok. You now have created a shortcut that can skip the updater whenever the updater is having a problem connecting. You can use it at almost any time and city of heroes will work just fine. The only time you won't be able to use that shortcut is if a patch has been released since the last time you used the updater. If a patch has been released then you will need to use the updater to play the game but after that one use you can go back to using the non updater shortcut.
Using this method is particularly helpful for players who have a satellite internet provider because the updater often takes many attempts to connect through satellite due to the latency.
Don't count your weasels before they pop dink!
My game doesn't seem to want to connect to the login server. Anyone else having this issue?
