I was sorely disappointed in the apparent lack of objectiveness in the judging, someone even asked me if the winner was a member of AL (Alt) or a friend of one of the judges...of course I couldn't say one way or the other. Talk about being left with a bad taste in your mouth! It makes me glad I was only there because, someone asked me to go watch it. This was the first AND last AL event I will attend...bet on it.

I guess even CoH has its own brand of politics...Oh well, whatever. >_>
I am sorry you did not like the winning costume. The members of the Legion submit their votes to me via tell and I count up the votes to determine the winners. In the event of a tie I cast a tie-breaking vote. Its the fairest way I know of to pick winners based on the objective choices of a group of players. Undoubtedly many felt that someone else was better because there was a large number of different votes; however the one with the most votes wins; and that is just the way it is.

Sorry you don't want to come back...good luck in whatever else it is you do.

What would you like addressed? The fact that you didn't like the costume of the person who won? Frankly I don't care. We hold fair contests based on secret ballot voting of our members. The only concern I would have is if for some reason our voting system was unfair; which it is not.

The fact that I responded to you at all was a courtesy that shall not be repeated. Good day to you.

Those concerns were addressed in the form of describing the voting process in detail.

The procedure he described is exactly how it it works. No "politics." No conspiracies. No dirty dealings or underhandedness; if we want to give influence to a friend or an alt, we'll use the mail system like everyone else.

A costume you didn't like won a contest; too bad. I've participated in dozens, maybe hundreds, of costume contests in my time playing this game, and I've actually agreed with the judges' choice of winners maybe three times ever -- including the ones I've helped judge myself. If you don't like it, don't attend. If you want the costumes you like to win, hold your own contest or just give your personal "winner" a consolation prize afterward.

For my money, last night's winner wasn't who I personally voted for, but that doesn't mean it didn't deserve to win; simplicity and economy of design doesn't automatically make something "uninspired."

FUN FACT: That burst of light when you level up is actually the effectiveness escaping from your enhancements all at once.

I am sorry that you did not agree with the winner of the CC. I am aware that a few people didn't. We cast our votes secretly, and the person with the most votes wins. Legion ( or host) only votes to break a tie. That's how we have done these for over a year and a half. Sometimes everyone agrees with the winner, sometimes they don't. It happens.
As far as the other question goes, we have had a rule in place for much longer than we have been doing the CC's, at minimum of 4 years (cause that's how long I've been in the group) At our events (excluding sg and coalition events) our members are not allowed to participate. Even on an alt.
If one of our members needs influence, there are much simpler ways of giving it to them.
If they want recognition for a great costume, we hold sg only CC's . For the very reason we do not allow them to compete in the weekly CCs.
We run a fair contest the best way we know how. There isn't debate over the contestants between all or even a select few of the members and its not decided by just one particular person's opinion. On large turnout nights, especially when (like last night) there are a ton of great costumes, the votes tend to be spread out more. So some nights, one vote can make a difference.
I am sorry that you or anyone else was not happy with the results. To that I can only say, better luck next week. If you choose not to participate any further, I am sorry that you have come to that conclusion.

I don't give a tinker's cuss how you feel about my opinion of the winner, my opinion isn't the point here. Nowhere were you (or anyone else) attacked...it was a simple statement of questions I was asked and brought to your attention. However, all you've done is show me elitism and forum snobbishness at its worst...AND given me reason (based on your hostile reaction) that they may have had more credibility than I thought at first.

Good day to you!
Worst post ever.
