Hard to get badges (Damage/Hold/Heal/Influ)

Howdy all!

Well, I come here for tips on getting these badges for my badge-hunter toon... He happens to be my main toon and played A LOT in the 18+months my account has, a Rad/Rad defender that for most of my climbing to 50 was played straight front by the side of the tank. That said I got all Debt badges real fast. LOL
I tend to team a lot (never much a fan of soloing in MMO) and have a very active SG, so I got the SK badges pretty fast too... Not sure how it is working now with the SK changes.
But there are some Achievement badges that are being quite a pain to gain through normal game play, that´s why I wanted some help...

-Damage: I´ve heard of Brutes being played since the beggining of CoV that have not gained the last of these through normal game play. The last one I got was Adamant, meaning there´s still 4 to go. I currently heal myself for 270 damages each activation of Radiant Aura, so no need to keep resting. Well, I´ve learned already that AE gives you no progress in badge obtaining, and that you have to surpass your base HP for the damage to count... So how you guys work the farming for this? How to be more efficient with the time spent AFK?

- Hold: The problem to me is that to get this I can not be activating my heal so often, so any ways of mastering it without getting killed? Any specificic enemy I should try to find? And Immobilize won´t work right?

- Heal: Ok, Rikti and Hami Raids, plus the special Invasion events, have gotten me until the last couple... Any easier way to get those last 2? You have to keep a buddy afk with you for all that time really?

- Influ: this will be a straight question. Farming is the ONLY answer? I´m ok with AFK farm as that is not game-play time, but Influ farming is not really my game. I´ve IO´d 2 50s with sets already with WW Influ, but regular Influ I haven´t even got to 250mill... Any tips on what to do?

Edit: And sorry for the long post... I just wanted to keep these at one thread/post. Tough I will probably come back for questions on other badges too, specially PvP ones... :-)

You need to find an enemy that will hit you HARD - ideally enough to put your hit point bar down to orange or red - but infrequently enough that you can heal to full before the next hit. On my scrapper (with a heal enhancement in Rest), I used a Rularuu Brute conning orange. In melee, they have only one attack and it's a big one and recharges slowly (I think it was about 9 seconds to cycle). I would suggest you slot Rest for healing and try an even con or -1 Brute. Use a random mission from a Shard contact with endless missions.

Malta Sapper. In melee, they will just hit you with their hold again and again. On my scrapper, I used two of them to maximize the time held.

- Heal: Ok, Rikti and Hami Raids, plus the special Invasion events, have gotten me until the last couple... Any easier way to get those last 2? You have to keep a buddy afk with you for all that time really?
Historically, the most popular way to get these was heal farms in the Arena. You need the Longbow Warden 2 (linked to the badge for 400 PvP rep). My scrapper got the Empath badge when it required 1 billion points of healing. I haven't done this since last year (helping someone with SG heal badges) and there have been many changes and upgrades to the Arena so I'm not sure how it works now. Oh, and yes, you'll need someone to help.

Just play the game. The requirement for the top badge used to be 2 billion influence and I was at 1.6 billion on my scrapper (broadsword/regen - not exactly a farming build). So just play the game. A lot. A whole lot. Specific tip: plan your life around the next Double XP Weekend and play until your eyes bleed.

BTW, I don't know of any way to AFK farm for influence. I never used any of the methods that did exist. All the methods I heard of were eventually fixed since they were exploits.

P.S. What server are you on? I can help you set up / test some of this stuff. I can be really helpful if you're on Infinity. I have no one above level 23 on any other server.

Circle of Thorns Guides work pretty well for this too. I've been using a lvl 54 CoT Guide for damage farming on my blaster. His one melee attack does about 1200 points of damage per hit, and I can regen that back just in time before he hits me again with one lvl 50 heal IO in Rest.

Arena heal farm still works just fine. Took me about a week to go from zero to Empath doing this. There are several threads in this section detailing exactly how to set it up. It's fairly easy, provided you have the 400 rep badge. Otherwise, you'll have to work on getting that badge as well.

If you happen to be on Protector, I'll be glad to help you out with the healing badges, and getting the PvP badge too, if you need that.

Agreed. I think one of my last Empath farms only took 3 days, but I used a 3rd account to add 13 more random targets to the healing for faster progress. Getting the whole set of badges in about a week sounds about right.

Also, I agree on the other points. I used 2 Sappers on my Tank and Corruptor as well. I used 2 so that when their power misses, the effects of the other ones is still stacking and keeping me held more permanently.

On a side note, the reason we use REST mode for the damage farms isn't just to ensure fast regeneration, but because [Rest] floors your defense and damage resistance. That causes the enemy's attack to hit much harder, and count more toward your badge credit. Using a lvl 53 Guide, I'm earning 334k/hr on my Corruptor. A lvl 54 was randomly killing me after about half an hour. I'm capped on regen and couldn't find any reason for it, so I simply scaled back to a lvl 53 instead.

To add to the Inf suggestions.. Farming is a good suggestion, but that's not for everybody. I have earned Leader on only 2 toons so far... a scrapper and a Tanker. I don't really farm missions, so I simply just kept using them for a lot of weekly scheduled TF runs for a while. My Corruptor is next up to get it, but even she is still another 200M away, so it's going to take me a while. I saw no need to get this series in a hurry because I figure as new content comes out, there will always be new arcs or TFs for me to run and earn more credit anyway. I figured since I'm always going to be behind by a dozen veteran badges, another couple isn't going to make much difference. YMMV

Neither do I know of any means to farm Influ AFK... And that would be a major exploit. If I knew of any I would report it to get the Bug Hunter one... ;-) Seriously, I really don´t plan doing it even on actual game time. Farming is boring when you could be doing other fun stuff. :-)

I´m at Justice... But thanks for the offer. :-)

Edit: I´m still a newbie in badges, only at 531 now... Still need 4 defeats badges, almost all of the PvP and Ouro ones and a few others... But I´ll get there eventually. :-)
