I'd suggest posting this in the PvP section. I have no idea how to build a shield scrapper for PvP other than saying get as much defense, to hit, +hp, +regen, and + recovery as you can

Ok this is a bad pvp build and a bad pve build

On top of that Shield is a horrible set for pvp

Just a couple things Kentic combat is a waste om shield why are you spending 160million for some of the kentic combat which only give positional defense of 1.88 on shield. This is a typical mistake by people Kinetic combat are great for sets like Invul, WP, because they use type defense shields is a positional defense set. You be better off using Touch of Death, Obliertaion and Makos in your build

you want to softcap at 45 at all 3 position and you will still lag behind a fire/reg in pvp

Why only one recharge in active defense you want two even if you have hasten this is all your mitigation and with the blessing of the zyphers nerf you are wasting slots adding a kb protection.

You need to do a complete rebuild imo

Melt armor is worthless period and if you are using it as a set mule that goes back to your terrible build

Also what pvp are you trying to perform because an arena build is different from, an RV build and it is different from a Sirens Call build yea that all matters as well

Wow, a 'dude this wont work' and 'this is why' would of sufficed. But your explanation of why didnt even make sense "because they use type defense shields is a positional defense set". What the hell does that mean. I have fared very well in RV and the toon is fun to play. That's what this is all about.

typed defense ie:smashing/lethal/energy/neg energy/fire/cold/psi/toxic(maybe missing one not sure)

positonal defense ie: melee,range,AOE

Because Shields get their defense from Ranged/Melee/AOE so you want to get all those numbers to 45% and not care about anything else defensively. Using Kinetic Combats on a Shield is a complete waste of money as stated of above... You are not the only person who does it and when I see it I just shake my head

He is saying Inulvn and WP use these sets because they can benefit more from typed defense through the use of reactive armor and kinetic combat/smashing haymaker

Your standards for doing well must be low. Are you mostly a fite clubber? In other words, do you mostly just fight other melee toons?

The reason why shields gets a bad rap in PvP is that it's defenses get largely nullified by any character possessing sufficient tohit buffs. If you monitor what your defenses are actually like in a PvP zone, you'll find that they are substantially lower than the values you have in PvE.

Also, your build only has one type of travel power: super speed. What would you do against an opponent who just stayed at range? Sure, you'd go to close the distance, but characters without vertical capabilities are pretty limited. Not being able to jump on a ledge while an opponent can freely attack you is a pretty significant disadvantage.

Also, if you don't understand the differences between typed and positional defenses, you shouldn't lash out but rather do some research. Paragonwiki can easily be consulted: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Defense

Didnt mean to lash out. It was just that alot of that stuff seems like rocket science lol. And yes most of the toons I have faced are melee based. Not enough pvp on Protector. All of my positional defenses are above the soft cap: 45% . My expectations are to have fun. I dont take losing as serious as some. It is only a game if im not mistaken?

Well the thing is, in PvP, you don't have 45% positional defense. DR (Diminished Returns) lowers that value by a good amount, so you really have a lot less defense than what you've invested in when you PvP. That and Player ToHit is base 75 instead of 50 like most critters. So even if you had 45% defense in PvP, player's would still have a base chance to hit you of 30% instead of 5% like mobs in PvE. That's without any accuracy or ToHit bonuses.

Here is an example of switching to Oblireation I lost some endurance but you can gain it back as well etc

I had more slots to play with and only swapped one power melt armor for char with no slots but the default in it I assumed you wanted fireball in the build.

You have extar defense in tough if you switch the aegis out you still be at 45% defense and you can put impervium in for more endurance or some other set. I was also able to add an extra slot in Hasten plus add quite a bit of global recharge. You can play with the IO's and slots and other sets in mids look for positional defense melee, aoe and range the more the better. I see a bunch of things you can do with the flexibility in the build depending on what you want to do.

I just stuck with his powers and moved around his slots not how I build it I was just showing him what he can do with different IO's results and free up slots.

I just find pvp in this game blah so i have not played it pvp in a long time in this game. I read up on it and get a good idea about how it is running in COX
