Looking for a little ELA brute advise...

Have a SS/ELA brute in the works gonna hit 50 this week. I created this one because it appears that the heroes have the upper hand in tanks and scrapper hard targets most times. A hard target working as bait can be a very effective tactic.

Anyway, what to build for on this combo? Will be a the taunting / web grenade type and not for FC.

Looks like I can get in around 50% ranged defense pre-DR on one of my concept builds in Mids but is that even enough to bother with? I put together an alternate with slightly more HP and recharge. Perhaps that is even better. Any thoughts or anyone with experience can share a reasonable build?

Do as much hp and recharge as you can. Pretty much you are going to be just pounding web nade and taunt and moving around alot. Make sure your travels are slotted and you have phase.

Duel me.
I will work on my sig pic more when I have time.

Thanks. That is kind of what I was thinking. I am not sure that there is enough defense left after DR to make such a build viable. But maxing HP and recharge isnt bad. I had Phase in the plan.

After the +HP and +Recharge your aiming for, I'd go for as much resistance as you can before worrying about defense. Tough is highly recommended if you can fit it in. With rechage where it needs to be your heal will most often be up before heroes can bring you down on the move.

Also, since your going the way of phase, don't be afraid to take and use Power Surge as a staple and grab the 'click and forget' Ethreal Shift Phase for the crash. Again your heal recovery will be up and ready before the phase is over. When slotted for max resists and in T9 mode, /ELA can stand up to anyone's attack chains and sometimes... everyone's.

"Situational power? Sure. Although in a sense... all powers are situational. It's just that some situations occur more than others." Understand the situation needed in order for the power to be most effective... and make that situation happen.

50% defense will get DRd into the lower 30s which I guess isn't terrible, but you don't have elusivity or def debuff resistance to go with it. If it's a mostly-zone build, and you can hit that amount of defense without sacrificing too much else from the build (which I doubt you'd be able to do without getting really expensive), it might be something worth trying to do.

Thanks for the advise all. I think Mac helped cinch the decision for me with the note about no defense debuff protection and the lack of elusivity. More HP and recharge it is then. Thanks again all.
