You know what else would make it actually sorta usable?

Make it "interruptible" -- but when you get interrupted it blows up with strength proportionate to how much you'd gotten done.

So if it would normally do 100 points of damage, and you get interrupted halfway through, it does 50.

So most users would generally be trying to interrupt it at about 7.5 to 7.9 seconds. i know i would.

Maybe change the name to Chronal Detonator and have the text say something about how it uses chronitons to create a temporal loop as it detonates a Trip Mine thus multiplying the blast. While the device is activating it induces temporal skipping, making you harder to hit as you phase in and out of sync with time.

There, you now have a LotG mule with a vaguely plausible reason for it being one.
If time bomb gets altered to something that actualy distorts the time-space continium, I'll demand that the detonation animation gets changed to a wormhole opening up and a T-rex with a jetpack poping out to attack the baddies.

Bah. Super Speed + Cloaking Device or Cloaking Device + Stealth IO = almost perfect safety (barring things with +perception like a couple of types of Longbow) while laying the Time Bomb.

I use it on most spawns when it's up while I'm soloing with my AR/Dev. Destroys the minions and knocks a big chunk off of anyone else, who I then slaughter with Full Auto. Rarely need a 3rd attack, 'cept when there's a Boss or EB there.

I'll take almost perfect safety over extra speed any day.

Do keep in mind that the original post was about Time Bomb in the Traps powerset, not Devices. That said, it is possible to use some combo of SS+stealth for a Traps user to toe bomb. The lower Defender damage and complete lack of Full Auto in Dual Pistols (as was also mentioned in the OP) does make your tactics somewhat problematic for most others, especially the OP.

Still, i can see the appeal of an attack that gives you time to go get a refreshing beverage while it sets up if that's how you roll. Most people don't find that leisurely of a playstyle appealing, but if it works for you that's just peachy.

Time Bomb really isn't that great. Not the worst power in the world.. Yeah I'm looking at you Poison Trap from Poison!

15 seconds is just brutally long to wait. Can we please get a redone version of this power? Or something else? Yeah it's ok against AVs but in all honesty, Trip Mines are better in nearly every situation. You can stack them, making them the ultiamte burst damage power when preped.

obligatory (because I can) solution:

Make timebomb a pet that follows you around after casting it uninterrupted (like a hovering ball or something) then the next time you hit the time bomb button it ticks down from 5 to 0. Once it hits zero KABLAMO! It would be like an emergancy nuke that is hard to cast in the middle of a fight and would have a somewhat long cooldown... yeah.. I like that idea.
