Oh, yeah, I got what you were saying. The confusion arose because I should have quoted Daemodand for clarity as to where I was referring.

And I tried Dungeon Runners. Dull as dishwater.

Dec out.

So did I, and I can say after playing that particular F2P game that it was worth every penny I spent on it.

I appreciate your response.

I think advertising is essential to this games success. So why not as a player base promote the game we all love? Here are a few ideas I came up with.

-Post a link to the main site on your social networking sites, (twitter, facebook, myspace, etc...)

-Post links on your youtube page/Video

I fail to see how you can't draw a line from A to B.

YOUR idea:

CoX sets up a site that you can link to that gives someone 7 days for free (if following the Age of Conan way).

HIS idea:

Lots of people on their own set up links from their favorite places to CoX's official sites, makes funny advertisements on their own and basically spread the word.

The only thing those two things have in common is that they're both forms of advertisement. Beyond that, they have little to nothing to do with each other. Just because you both mention Facebook doesn't mean your idea is the same as his.

To answer this...

Perfect Pain complained:

Wow I suggested the same damn thing about 8 months ago and all the snobs came to the thread and shut it down. "Oh I dont want to have anything on facebook or twitter" "Thats a bad idea" "Just no".
Because they're not at all "the same damn thing". I would still be in favor of his idea and not yours. Yours wants CoX to give stuff away and do extra work. His idea is that we just spread the word in various ways.

Dec out.

DDO and LOTRO. You're looking at the future of MMOs. And this MMO.

P.S. This game also needs it's own version of a $25 sparkle pony.

P.P.S. Oh, DCUO looks to be going with the F2P model as well. Like I said, the future is arriving.

Yeah right. And the same people out there that are predicting f2p is the future of MMO's also predicted that Champions would blow this game out of the water. We all know how accurate they were on that topic.

free to play will only become the standard if they begin jacking people like MAD with microtransaction fees.

and it's much more likely they'll just keep subscription fees and try to jack you with microtransaction fees for a new tidbit of content every chance they get.

I think this would be cool for this game as well, Could we maybe have a link like this before Christmas?

Would be cool if we could have a Twitter link too
and like AoC, we could have perks for getting more and more people to subscribe

I have to agree with Decorum on this. I've pasted the message you linked to above. Unless I'm missing something, it sounds like you're addressing NCsoft/Paragon Studios, not the players directly. You want NCsoft to create some sort of landing page for Facebook/Twitter links. If in there somewhere you had mentioned something like, "...but even if they don't, everyone should link to the home page!" then I might see where you're coming from. Maybe you think it's implicitly understood, but I'm just not seeing any call to the players to do anything.

And to be honest, I remember this post (I even commented in that thread), and the thing that struck me more than anything else was the suggestion--again, clearly to NCsoft/Paragon Studios--for "perks for getting more and more people to subscribe." There were indeed a few posts in that thread about how some people hate Facebook, but the initial volley of "this is a bad idea" posts were really more focused on that suggestion, which I have to agree is a bad idea.

This thread and that thread are related, but they are not the same thing. Yours comes off as, "Paragon Studios ought to..." This one is clearly more in the spirit of, "We players ought to..."

We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.
(If you love this game as much as I do, please read that post.)

Champions is subscription+micro, so that's irrelevant.

By getting rid of its subscription, DDO's revenues went up 500%. The market is deciding in favor of no sub+micro (f2p).
