The City of Heroes Screenshot the Spot! Contest - June 2nd, 2010
I scored today off, so I'll try to be on top of this one. Gotta admit, I'm not seeing it yet. I can't tell whether that's some sort of fence or railing towards the left. If it is, I don't recognize it. Still studying, though...

Ooh, good eye. I think you're on the right track, but I don't think that's the right gate. (Still poring over locations...)
Edit: Ooh, I think I know where it is! Now to get there...

Edit: I should read the rules. >_o Wrong size..
Just in case they're going to be picky about editing your post, I'll try to scavenge it. The hard part was finding the right gate with that texture as the ground instead of the tiled pavement blocks that the others posted. And yes, that's you in the foreground, still at the scene of the crime.
Oh, and of course:

Oh well, whatever works. The fun was in finding the place anyways. XD
And yeah, it was hard to find that specific looking gate, though for me it was those rusted iron.. beams or whatever they are that kind of gave it away.
Er.. Well, the first one didn't qualify so this should still count, right? ;_;

I just posted mine because I've heard them say before that if you edit your post or your picture you'll be disqualified, and I figured hey, if anyone is going to pick the bones, it might as well be me, right?
When I saw the other pictures posted, I kept thinking, "No, I don't see the sidewalk lines, it's got to be somewhere that has a solid pavement texture." So I started from where I was and visited all of the gates. That gate was literally the very last one I went to. I was starting to think that I was just plain wrong about my assessment. Then I saw the smooth pavement at that gate and thought, "A HA! That's it!" And I saw another player there and thought, "Quick, before they get it posted!" And then when I came back here, I saw your post and realized that the other player was you and that you had already posted it.
Oh well, like I said, I hope you win, and good job on finding the right gate!

Amazing effort both of you, You do of course have the right answer. As the official rules have nothing about edits (and I can review a time and change log of any edits you do make) I award this to Mephistroth! Congrats!
Please PM me with the code you desire.
Thanks,
Woot, congratulations, and great eye on finding the place! And mini-congrats to Kallandra. Even though you didn't win this one, great job on figuring out what the heck that was. My first thought that it was some kind of fancy railing in Croatoa or somewhere. I really wasn't thinking about the chainlink fences until you posted your image.
Ocho, thanks for doing the Right Thing™ on this one. Mephistroth clearly had the right picture, and he definitely should have won this one. Just as a suggestion, though, if you guys want to avoid having people changing their posts and/or pictures in the future, you might want to add that to the rules. Or at least add something like, "if a player submits images of multiple viewpoints or locations or changes the viewpoint or location of his or her submitted image, that player is disqualified."
That would have let Mephistroth edit his picture for size, but would keep the rules lawyers from doing something like going to the right location after submitting a wrong location and updating their post and/or their image.
Speaking of which, when you say that you can review a time and change log of any edits, does that include linked images? That's actually more what I'm worried about than someone editing their post. If I post a link to an image and update the picture behind the link without editing the link itself, you might have a switcheroo happen without a log of it on the forums.
Also, I couldn't help but notice one more rule you really need to add just for clarification, something along the lines of, "The Paragon Studios Online Community Relations team is the final judge of the winner and reserves the right to disqualify any or all entries at its discretion." Hopefully you'll never have to invoke that clause, but in a pinch, it may save some bacon.
It's unfortunate you might need something like this. I'm cool with all of your winning selections, but I'm nice like that.

I must come up with a concept for this now..
Hmm... I never did get a response on this..
Still haven't gotten PMed back yet...
How well do you know your City of Heroes/Villains locations?
Hello, hello and welcome to the Screenshot the Spot forum game where every Wednesday until 4pm Pacific Time (7:00 PM Eastern Time / 12:00 PM GMT / 1:00 Central European Time) you can win your choice of a costume code from past Con seasons and the Forum Title "Screenshot Spotter [date]".
The object of this game is to be the first to 1). Figure out the location in-game depicted in the screenshot and 2). Post a screenshot that is closest to the one I have posted , with your own character in the place of the character present in the screenshot. Sounds easy right? Well there's a catch. The location isn't going to be as obvious as you might think so make sure you pay close attention to the picture details and hints.
The Pictures will start out masked and more and more of the image will be revealed as time goes on as long as no one has correctly identified the location by posting their own screenshot. If by the end of the day no one has identified the location, the full picture will be revealed and no one will win for that week (BOOOOOOO!).
Rules:
1. Your post must contain a screenshot of the location depicted in the initial contest post, but with your character in the place of the character present in the screenshot.
2. Screenshots must remain less than 800px X 500px to qualify.
3. UI needs to be turned off (Menu -> Options -> Keymapping -> scroll to bottom under other "Toggle Screenshot UI")
4. Reply in the official City of Heroes® forum (http://boards.cityofheroes.com/) thread created for each weekly Screenshot The Spot Contest with your screenshot submission.
5. Your reply must contain a single screenshot. Entries with more than 1 screenshot will be disqualified.
6. Your submission must also contain the following statement. Please note that your submission will be disqualified if this statement is not present in your post:
8. Please note, only 1 (one) entry per forum account will be accepted. If you post a second time, you'll get disqualified, so make your one entry count!
9. Entries must conform to the Official City of Heroes Message Forum Rules and Guidelines.
10. If you win the City of Heroes® Screenshot The Spot Contest one week, you are not eligible to do so again for the next 8 weeks. This is to allow other people the opportunity to win. Please be courteous to others and refrain from participating during the weeks you are not eligible to win.

Have fun and good luck!
